Star 101.3

I'm a little baffled. When Clear Channel announced that Don Bleu was moving to (Oldies) 103.7, you'd think they would've had someone in line and ready to take mornings at Star. But yet they had 910AM and 960AM all planned out and ready to roll today, Jan 3rd.

I mean they were able to land the former KGO people, line up the syndicated shows, but yet they have no one slotted (or announced) for mornings at Star.

Yeah - since Don Bleu didn't leave for a competitor, you'd think Clear Channel would have had something figured out for the Star morning show. But this is kind of typical for music radio morning shows, and for CC in particular. From what I understand, they knew about Renel leaving KISQ for awhile, but when they parted ways, just moved Morris Knight (not a personality DJ at all) to mornings until months later when they convinced Renel to come back.

I also recall many past stations suddenly having "More Music in the Mornings" all of a sudden.

Folks:

This doesn't suprise me at all.

This is a stretch, but maybe their going to flip the station... so they want to "transfer" as many listeners as posssible to Don Bleu at 103.7. Unlikely, the but the scenero does work.

Many station owners like to make radical programming adjustments gradually. They just finished blowing up two AM stations and moved a morning person down the hall. Adding a brand new morning to show to KIOI would just get lost in the shuffle.

Look how gradually they changed Smooth Jazz KKSF...I mean 103.7 The Band...I mean Oldies 103.7...I mean the New 103.7...

So... Any word yet on who they're putting inthe morning slot?

I don't know right now, but I'm sure that the trades will report this when it happens.
