STAR 101.5 Changes

STAR 101.5 moved toward KRWM this morning playing Hall and Oates
Phil Collins mixed in with the Rob Thomas and Sheryl Crow. Kind of
an upbeat KRWM. Not sure if this is a good move or not. Same staff
and lineup, just a bit older music, new jingles and a contest starting
next week. The also have an 80's Lunch and Weekends will be 80's.

Wonder if KLSY will go 70's/80's Oldies to take them on. KJR-FM does
60's/70's Oldies leaning toward men. Might be a good move. That would
force STAR back toward KBKS, where there is no audience anymore. (KLSY
found that out the hard way this year.)

Heard BJ's show and Adam Corolla. Thought Adam easily had the better show.

Yes, they are "testing the waters" over there, ever since they made a slight format change from Hot AC to just plain ol' AC the day after Christmas. I think the smart people at Fisher see their demo getting older, and this format change is a reality of just that. Will it help in the long term.....let's see what the rest of you think!

I heard KBSG play Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" over the weekend.

Sounds like there are several stations playing the "What's that target demo?" game. Maybe soon the only place you'll be able to hear non-classic rock 60's will be on KIXI?!?

Actually, I have heard stuff from the likes of Night Ranger, Roxette, & Phil Collins(mid to late 80's) on KJR-FM recently.

Wow -- someone else heard that, huh? I thought I was listening to Jack when I heard them go from Born To Be Wild to What's Love Got To Do With It.

KLSY is the unfortunate soul left out in the cold, similar to 95.7 and/or 96.5 trying to find a niche. They should completely nuke KLSY as we know it and start over with something else.

Yeah, I heard that too. Sure seems like KBSG has lost all sense of direction since its longtime PD crossed the street to KJR!

Hopefully Star will have the good sense to leave well enough alone as far as talent goes ~ they've got a good on-air bunch there at Fisher.

As far as Carolla vs. B.J. goes, it's no contest. Carolla wins hands-down. Both are pros, but Carolla's crew sounds like they've been doing mornings for the past five years, and their strengths mirror the best of Stern: strong, relatable, funny core group that's hip without being too cool for the room. B.J. could have the Pope and Bush on and still not have as entertaining a show as Carolla.

Have a nice day.
