With midday jock Amanda Kelly getting cut after just 4 months, I'm wondering where Star 94-1 headed in the daypart.
This happened on new PD Jerry McKenna's first day, but it seems highly unlikely, even if he was monitoring the station from afar, which he probably was, that the firing came from him. I can't believe any new PD would want to set the tone that way.
Entercom has been moving toward voice-tracking middays in a number of their markets so that could be the direction for Star. But frankly, given what they probably were paying Amanda, how much would they save?
Former B98.5 afternoon driver Madison James, who has been doing weekends on Star, has been covering. She sounds great although possibly just slightly mature for the station's 25-34 core. But it's hard to imagine Entercom paying the salary she would command. Perhaps Mr. McKenna will decide who in the Entercom family will voice-track the daypart.
Speaking of Madison James, I have no knowledge regarding why B98.5 terminated her because I feel she was perfect for them, and better than her replacement.
