OK, they just announced Spicer's going over to US95.7 after all, so I dunno if I buy any of this.

Duncan and Mel Soon to be - VT'd

Duncan and Mel are soon to be required to Voice Track their show for the next few weeks pending market review of in house politic's. Management also wants to review their ratings on mornings and past afternoon show's. Apparently, comments made by Spicer on air spark a debate as to why she quickly signed a deal with "US." Rumours speculate Duncan made a comment to her like "He got rid of "J & K" and now he's moved out another bad apple making room for Mel on the Midday's." Spicer's comment on air... " I'm relieved and saddend that I will be leaving such a great station but I'm excited to be lead by a true believer of talent and a real market leader." Clear Channel management thought they missunderstood the comment "Spicer" said on air and requested to speak with her after the show. Spicer opened with, If you'd only opened your eye's, you would've fired Duncan long ago! He has made a mackery of My 94.1 and you'll soon see My 94.1 hit rock bottom before year end."

When I was on air, it was understood that "family business" was never discussed on the air. It was part of a commitment to the listener - we're there to entertain, not to air dirty laundry. But that was a different time - radio station staff really were like families then, working together for a common goal. Now the attitude most jocks have is "ants against the elephant," and not without cause. Too bad.

At least Cindy got to say goodbye to her listeners. That's more than most of us ever get.
