Star 94 Adds Back the "Big 90s Weekend"

Going along with the older shift in their format, Star is adding back "Big 90s Weekends" beginning this Friday evening. They began airing promos for it this morning.

Aqua actually had a bigger hit with Turn Back Time from 1998. It was from the movie Sliding Doors. I believe it made it to number 1. I used to hear it on Star 94 back in the day. Haven't heard Barbie Girl yet either. It's also on the very first Now That's What I Call Music CD. We are on volume 48 now. Loving the Big 90s Weekend! Keep it going Star 94!

***YAWN*** Heard some of the big 90s weekend.... borring.

I understand Star94 is in a bad way ratings-wise, but playing the same 75 90s songs all weekend probably won't make a difference. I heard some decent titles, and them i heard some left field songs that could've been left off the playlist. ("Whomp There it Is", "The Macerena" and "Return of the Mack" come to mind off the top of my head). They have enough heritage in the market, they should be playing the songs that were hits for them in the 90s, not just novelty crap that has an "oh wow" to it. PPM has shown that "oh wow" songs usually make the listener say "oh wow, I think I'll change the station".

The station needs to do something if it wants to survive, I just don't know if I'd be gambling it all on a decade that's notorious for terrible music.
