The Jefferson-Pilot/Lincoln Financial merger is complete

The radio/TV/sports broadcasting division, Jefferson Pilot Communications, is now known as Lincoln Financial Media.

They should have kept the Jefferson Pilot name for that division. Now when I think of Star 94, the thought of securities and investments comes to mind.

(For those who may not be aware, although most of everybody is, WQXI/790 the Zone is leased out to Big League Broadcasting. The new Lincoln Financial still owns the license.)

Is it my imagination or did Star 94 just add a third stop set per hour (in the non-S&V/C&R dayparts)?

Star used to have 2 stop sets per hour, at about 15 after and 15 before. I think I've heard stop sets in the past 2 weeks at 15 after, 35 after and 5 before.

If this is the case, does anyone know if they've decreased the number of units per stop set, or are they running more commercials? Clear Channel's perceptual research (done by Burke) indicated listeners were more favorable to more stop sets with less commercials in each.

I remember visiting Atlanta for the first time in 1991 and I remember Star 94 saying "we only stop the music twice an hour". So, they kept with it all that time?

I don't recall. But I know that since Dan Bowen modified the format clock in 1998, Star had 2 stop sets per hour.
