Star 94 to be sold ?

Heard rumor that Clear Channel WILL make some serious changes (like an eventual sell off) in Atlanta... Star 94 will be sold ... and that Lite FM is going country.

Anyone else heard these things?

If so, two questions:
Where will Randy & Spiff land?
and
How does it affect Q100?

Cheers,
Amy Terrik

no, no. I know that Star is not a CC station... but these are the different aspects of Atlanta radio that may be unstable:

--Disney selling off their stations (Kicks and Eagle),
--the CC Shakeup (which will include a Lite change to country)
--and Lincoln's decision to sell Star
--something about CBS making changes too

any confirmation to these?

The one indicator that could be out there is that Big Leauge Broadcasting recently signed another long term lease with Lincoln Financial for the WQXI-AM that had built in protection in case of sale. I do not know the particulars, but it wasn't too long ago that they signed a similar deal. Perhaps that indicates that a sale could be coming in the near future and they just wanted to get as much long term protection as possible.

Billy Barou: You're the guy who told us the Atlanta affiliate for Air America was going to be WAOK, and that they were going to start the following Monday, back when AA first came on.

This was done because of the sale of JP to Lincoln, not because they think it could be sold in the near future. Just remember, a contract is only worth the papaer on which it has been written!

Yes, but the original contract had sale protection built in as well and there still at least seven years to go.

RTibbs sez:
>I find it hard to believe Cleaf Channel is going to sell off a Top 10 market.

Put another way, Lowry and Miz Mays didn't raise no fools.

Or, yeah, Atlanta is for sale, at a very high number. Someone wants to p[ay it, Randall and Mark will sell. The number is extremely high, but it exists. It exists for all the CC properties.

You are right anything is for sale for a price. Although I don't really think the initial poster had much knowledge of any impending for sale sign.
