STAR 99.1 job opening?

Did anyone out there apply for the production job at STAR 99.1? They had a Creative Manager position open in June or July and then I read it was filled. Then the guy they hired was let go because the position was eliminated, according to allaccess.com. Then about a week ago STAR 99.1 advertises for a continuity/production person. I sent a package but recieved no response so I'm just wondering what the hiring process was like for those of you who went through it.

blueboy,

A friend of mine applied for the Creative Director position back in June. He sent his materials...waited...followed up by resending his package because the job opening was still listed ...waited...followed up with several phone calls and emails...and never heard a word. Not even a form letter thanking him for submitting his materials.

Not very impressive. I'm as busy as anybody and yet I always do my best to return calls and answer letters especially those from perspective employees.

Good luck to you!

You know how those darn religous types can be, Dave

I think it's more of an industry-wide problem or perhaps even indicative of a greater social issue...the lack of manners, social etiquette, and common courtesy. Those darn religious types aren't immune from this either. Good morals doesn't always translate to good manners. But then again, I don't think bad manners will keep out of Heaven. Don't worry Sherpat...there's still time for you! ;)

They never acknowledged my stuff either, way back in the WAWZ days w/ Rosetta Key, Bill Jones, & crew doing actual NJ news (pre-Star 99.1). I DID, however, receive a neat American flag decal & solicitation mail. Oddly enough, I was trying to pitch a Gospel/CCM format before they cleaned house & flipped.

If it makes you feel any better, the last place I applied (a public service station, non-Christian) sent me a nice, official "materials received" letter within a day after receiving my stuff. Interview was solid, they said they'd contact me within a week, & I sent a strong follow-up letter back that week. After I called three & a half weeks later, top dog calls back later that day: "I just wanted to tell you personally how impressed we were with you, but we went with someone else"... blah, blah, blah. At least mail me a letter to post (back in college, we'd proudly hang our "bullet" letters on our dorm room doors - from job opportunites that shot us down).

Oh well, Happy Thanksgiving, all! I am grateful for the opportunity to work at a place where what we do impacts lives. Peace. 8)
