Is it just me, or does Star sound awful? There are huge blocks of time with no jocks, and between every song, there seems to be the exact sake voiceover liner: "Star 99.9. Today's Best Mix." In addition, the music list has tightened considerably. I know that the latter is good for PPM, but it is not fun for many listeners. Any thoughts?

Star 99.9 Has Never Sounded Worse

I am sure I listened during weekend jockless hours, or during a very long stretch without the jock opening the mic. Nonetheless, especially relative to WEBE 108, I could not believe how stale and boring Star sounded. Repeating the same voiceover liner between every song was over the top.

Star might be going after KC101, but because Star is in the Bridgeport mkt., WEBE108 is their main competitor. The Radio War between these 3 stations has been going on for decades. Actually, Star is a Hot AC with an 8.7 as compared to Top 40 KC101 @7.9 WEBE is AC @10.2 WEBE has always had the highest ratings of all of these stations. Jay Raven, formerly of WCCC, stations in Boston & Vegas, will join Anna Zap for the Anna & Raven Morning Show on Star on Mon., 4/20. We'll see what happens. KC101 does have great ratings in New Haven, 7.9, currently #2 behind WYBC 8.3 & above WPLR @7.3
Another new person on the morning show? Wow. This station has had a revolving door for people on the morning show for years - even before Connoisseur bought it from COX. I haven't listened to the station in a while, but it seems to have an identity crisis. It sounds different on the weekend than during the week.
