Star 99.9 Question

Is Star 99.9 now considered more of a New Haven AC station rather than a Bridgeport AC? Ever since the Cox move to Milford, does it seem Star caters more to the New Haven audience? After all their calls are WEZN Bridgeport...

Any opinions or thoughts?...<P ID="signature">______________

Nope, they are in Milford because since PLR and Star were clustered together, Milford was a logical place to put a New Haven and Bridgeport station in one spot. Evenly between both cities.

'EZN is currently #2 in Bridgeport & #4 in New Haven behind AC WYBC.

WEZN and WEBE have New Haven listeners because the Elm City does not have an AC station.

According to Arbitron, WYBC is listed as AC for New Haven.

What does that tell you? It's interesting that the Yale Broadcasting System is beating 'EZN - even though they're in the same building, plus 'YBC is 3kw as compared to 'EZNs' 27.5KW (50kw ERP).

But WEZN is located on Booth Hill, on the other side of the "hill"
The hill that has WYBC on the top of it. (I believe it's West Rock Ridge)
(Basically located over the tunnel on Rte 15).

So despite WEZN's full class B signal, the distance from the tower makes the two signals almost identical 'In New Haven' with the edge given to WYBC-FM in New Haven.

WYBC's format is Urban Adult Contemporary. Meaning R&B Hits and Oldies. No Hip-Hop/Rap.

Maybe that's why they're #1 in New Haven. Not hard to believe, as format is #1 in most urban cities.
