Star 99.9 vs. WEBE 108

I was in Connecticut not too long ago and of course I was tracking what was on the radio. I checked out the two AC radio stations I heard which was Star 99.9 and WEBE 108. I thought Star 99.9 was very boring and predictable. The playlist seems tight. WEBE 108 had much more variety. I stuck with WEBE 108 until I lost the signal. It was a good station. When I was listening to Star 99.9, I heard them say a sweeper insulting the other station, which I think is a dumb thing to do. Which radio station do you prefer? WEBE 108 or Star 99.9? I choose WEBE 108!<P ID="signature">______________

I prefer WEBE 108 better than Star 99.9. It doesn't have that annoying Delilah anymore at night, and Studio 108 is great. Star 99.9 sounds boring too, but WEBE is sounding more like a "Jack" station. Sometimes, I hate WEBE 108 because it interferes with WWPH 107.9 when the tropo is strong.<P ID="signature">______________

WEBE is much better!! More variety and at least they switch it up on Saturday nights with Studio 108. Star does the same old thing everyday and night.. its boring!

Ok, I'll put my two cents in...I occasionally host Studio 108, and have gotten to know Danny Lyons and Curt Hansen. These guys actually talk to, and listen to their audience! The play a wide variety of music, and have some great jocks, especially the ones that work Saturday nights... :)...

Some Adult Contemporary stations have excellent Saturday night shows, such as WEBE apparently. 99.3/92.1 Lite FM in the Hudson Valley has Studio 92 or Studio 99. It is a pretty good show and I think its live! Unfortunatley, 102.3 WSUS in my area airs Delilah 7 nights a week! OVERKILL! They used to air Dick Bartley's American Gold. I know it doesn't fit the format, but it was still an excellent show and now I can't hear it, unless I pull in this other station I heard that airs it. Some AC stations have good Sat. night shows and others don't. Star 99.9 doesn't. <P ID="signature">______________

My cousin listens to Star 99.9 for traffic mainly--but for me it's WEBE. Besides a couple of times I visited their offices when I took a couple visits to WICC 600.

I too listen to both ac stations from time to time and I prefer WEBE 108.

I think any station that runs a sweeper which is designed to insult the competition is wrong.

At least on WEBE, you know it's an ac station. I don't know if Star 99.9 is hot ac, ac or what it is trying to be?

Also the morning show does not insult you on WEBE 108 and the bits don't run forever in length.

Elizabeth Yates was also a good move for WEBE at night.
 
I prefer WEBE also, mostly for reasons that have already been mentioned here. Star 99.9 likes to insult WEBE, yet they have possibly the tightest playlist of any station around. And they stick to this playlist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (even during the "all request" love songs show). And the DJ's say the exact same thing, word for word, every time they speak! It's tiresome.
