Star and Buck Wild- Show Over

...I seriously doubt that's what Monday's announcement has anything to do with. I don't think the station would be eluding to something like that on the air. Star said good bye today and talked about a big announcement on Monday, I don't think the two are DIRECTLY related as much as some out there think. But we'll see.

Has anyone else heard Star on the radio all week saying how much he loves "Rap" music? I also don't think Big Boy is doing well on Hot 97. Could this be a tell tell sign of Monday's big announcement?

Star and Bucwild? Hot97? I don't think so.

frankie blue monday morning on pluse 87 ?

star and bucwild to sirius-xm ?

This is what I thought would happen after they got fired from Power 105 They could run Uncensored.

COME to the final Pulse event with Star TONIGHT (Monday, October 20th) at Plumm (246 W. 14th Street, off 8th Avenue) from 6P to 11P. Along with saying thanks to Star, "White Trash" Helene, DX21, DJ Yonny and Pablo, we will be there in FULL support for dance music as well as for Pulse 87.

But based on recent postings, should the inevitable happen....we will be doing our thing!

by using his name recognition it got them the attention and free press thus drawing the listeners they needed without sinking a bunch of cash into a marketing and promotion program. and now they dont want to pay his salary anymore. why should they when (in a suits mind) they can maintain the listener base by going 'Ipod in the AM'

period.

this is corporate radio people! want the real answer, think like a corporate radio person.

I'm not a big fan of the show that I notice that "Star & Buc Wild" has been on "Pulse 87" for several months until it finally comes to an end. What's going to be next? Could it be "Bob & Sheri"? No! or is it going to be an automated morning show? Maybe.

I will say this because he told me HIMSELF!

For those of you that are Pulse 87 fans, Star STILL wants you to tune into the station. Despite his departure, he and I BOTH want to see this station succeed. :)

as do I, Tony - as do I... :) nothing would make me happier than to see the dance music community stepping out and supporting its own in ANY way possible the way that we have for the oldies...

Andrea

There are those that may remember the past controversies Star has had. But I say this, pounding my heart in full.....I have nothing but the BIGGEST RESPECT for Star! He can do NO wrong in my book! I will definitely support whatever future endeavors he has along his journey.

And I'm thinking of a crazy idea Andrea! Something to get dance music out to the mainstream! Am still thinking about it but I will do something.

You crazy?? Nah!! :) i wish Star nothing but great success (i still remember that famous poster of him and Dre that was up years ago all over subway stations - YOU know the one i'm talking about - when they were working for a "Hot" radio station... ;)) he's a crazy one, but you know what? just let him be successful....

Andrea
(and as for your crazy idea, PM me on it - i have a hunch i know what it is... ;))

Not that I was ever a fan of Pulse, when I did tune in the morning show (when i was driving a car that had a radio that went to 87.7) I thought that the morning show sounded so out of place. No offense to Star and Buckwild, but if you're trying to build a dance station, people want to hear the music. Not 40 minutes of an hour devoted to talk. I'm giving the station another 2 months before more staff leave due to lack of funds.

Playing "devil's advocate" here, there's STILL something to be said about a morning show. As long as you're a 18-34 driven station, you want to have something in there that just grabs you in the morning somehow and backhandedly keep you informed of the goings on. Which is why Z-100 and Hot 97 will have their morning show, and a Lite-FM wouldn't.

It took me a bit of getting used to at first with Star & Buc Wild because of their years on hip-hop stations. I was wondering to myself whether or not their style would "translate" over to a dance music crowd. Not only that it did, but witnessing the parties at Plumm it also got crowds that would have traditionally been on the hip-hop tip actually EMBRACING dance music! So in that sense, that audience was looking all over the place for 87.7. I also think that we've been so accustomed to morning shows in general that for a guy to talk more than play music was just considered normal.

Regarding Pulse's situation.....I'm going to continue to support them. When the time comes that the party is "over", then I'm going to do what I do and fight for another radio station to do this.

That's very noble of you Tony. Better dust off your boxing gloves!

So are you saying that if Pulse 87 started carrying Bill O'Reilly's radio show, you would forgive him for his sexual harassment case, his profanity-laced tirade on the set of "Inside Edition" 20 years ago, etc.?
