Star & Buc Wild On Cable TV?

Some of you may be aware that Star & Buc Wild, formerly of both local hip-hop outlets Hot 97 and Power 105.1, are currently doing an Internet radio show. However, today on -- yes, Tony, they were also on Pulse 87, as well. Can't forget about that. Now... today on Facebook, one of Star & Buc's cronies sent members of their group a message. Rather than cut and paste, I will simply transcribe, since the message was written in all caps:

"The Star and Buc Wild Show is exploring all cable TV network opportunities. If you or anyone you know works for Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cablevision, Fios in the talent development, marketing sales or development department, hit me up at (email address withheld) -- Star would like to speak with you! We've got a show to pitch! =)"

(Yes, the message actually ended with that smiley face. And yes, that sentence did include the word "development" twice. Whatever, that was how it's written.)

Where do you think Star & Buc Wild might end up? I don't think it'll be a "Wayne's World" type of show, but I could be wrong.

Technically Star & Buc Wild were TV stars for much of 2008 since WNYZ is an LPTV. I remember seeing something about Star wanting to make use of the Channel 6 video signal and being on TV that way. That of course never came to fruition.

I wish Star & Buc Wild the best of luck, and hope to see them soon on TV. Wonder if they're planning to launch a new cable TV station, since it seems like that by the way they are asking for help. The cable companies don't originate much programming, they just carry it. The only channels originated by the cable company are the public access channels and their own news channels.

In a related venture, the "Mega" radio brand already operates as a 24/7 network on some TV stations' subchannels in various cities across the country, including right here in the New York City DMA, via WRNN-TV in upstate NY. I have seen subway and bus ads promoting "Mega TV" on channel 62.2, ironically, right around the time it was being reported that rival Univision was going to tip their hand at a television project of their own, involving one of their own radio personalities. (My local cable company doesn't carry this channel, though they do carry WRNN... not that I care that much about it, anyway...)

I can only speak for Time-Warner and Cablevision, but there is also leased-access programming where a producer would pay to have their show appear on a channel. Perhaps that may be the route.

I believe MNN is the popular public access outlet in Manhattan. On Cablevision, at least as far as The Bronx is concerned, it's called "Bronxnet."

Still, it would be hard to fathom a radio duo that achieved so many highs in radio in Market No. 1, ending up effectively doing a TV show on the former home of Robin Byrd. At least on a digital subchannel, it will be something a little different, and they can retain all of their dignity if they go that route. (IMHO.)
