Star Trying to Re-Brand?

So I was pulling in the driveway tonight and I heard an ID bumper on Star 94 that I hadn't heard before...

9-4-1 Star

Are they starting a subtle re-branding effort of some sort?

I heard that, too. I guess it shows that at this point, the diary is still alive and well. I wonder if Star is concerned that diaries with just "94" written in could get credited to 94-9 The Bull.

Perhaps they are just emulating the wildly successful 'Project 9-6-1'.

That's what happened with the old Warm 100-->Warm 99.7 and WSB 99FM-->B98.5 switch from 25 years ago (gosh, has it been that long?)...Arbitron was splitting diary entries of "99" or "Warm 99" between WRMM/WARM and WSB, awarding each station half a listener.

Cox sued then Susquehanna over it. Once it was realized that WSB-FM was 98.5 and WARM was 99.7, they had no chance. Once that judge was handed the digital radio and asked to tune around, Susquehanna should have asked Cox for legal fees.

Speaking of 99.7...now Q100...and its former home...100.5...now Rock 100.5... Both stations using 100 in their branding might cause some issues.

Star 94 has always used "94.1" in their imaging, and have had their DJ's say it frequently, so this is not new. If there were issues, they would have been "Star 94.1" by now.

Of course this will all be moot when the station becomes "Lite 94.1"...or "Lite 94"...or "94.1 Lite FM"...

Wow that might have a ring to it. "Star 9-4-1". Or "94.1: The Star". Or "Star: The Big 941" Or "Q100 at 94.1". Or "94.1 The Zone".

Or how's this: "94Q".

Now thats my kind of branding...... 94Q WQXI Fm Smyrna Atlanta... Good Afternoon , 3:30 Its Jeff Mc Cartney, and your listening to Atlantas Choice for Great Music.. That was the days indeed ! ! !

( The above comments made by a Old Man who wishes Radio still sounded that way...) :-\
