Listening to 45 minutes of Ross today, I was exposed again to the toxic promo for Burbank's nighttime wreck. VO says something like "It's almost like he's right there with you." And Burbanks says "Hey - nice Star Wars pajamas." "Thanks," says Ms. Giggle.

My 5th grader would wretch at that. What demo is this kind of pablum aimed at? Has KIRO lost their collective minds. Can you imagine what Ross must be thinking as he listens to that? So this is what the mighty 710 has come to.

Truly pitiful.
 
Yeah, I just don't get TBTL. I think I'm in that target demo (31m) and I enjoy Ross and Monson, occasionally will try Ron and Don, but TBTL.... ick. It's just a waste of time.

Ya know, as a career broadcast guy, I like to think I have some solid perspective. I knock Monso because I can't stand his delivery and views. But I don't wonder what he's doing on KIRO. I laid into Shiers when he was more visible for the same reasons.

But Burbank is a whole different thing.

He almost gives the vibe that he doesn't want to be there. Even the title of his show (and why in the world does a show need a title?) and attitude from day one just screams: "This ain't gonna work!" I've seen video of him on KIRO's website and he comes off as reluctant, maybe even just a tad sullen. What in the ... ?
