Star Wars Is Turning 30!

The first three Star Wars movies were fantastic! The last three were not.
Anyways congratulations to George Lucas and the people associated with Star Wars.

Before Star Wars came on scene. It was Star Trek. Which is good. And I do prefer NCC-1701-A. But my goodness.
Seeing the X-Wing Fighter! Was that the coolest thing ever!

I've never seen any of Star Wars movies, and plan to keep it that way.

I just don't see the reason for all the big hype about this movie. Just the parts that I've seen in passing (flipping through the channels, on the news, etc) it never really impressed me.

To each their own, I guess.

If I could have all the money that George has made from the film, I would be fan, but that won’t happen.

Actually, the original 1977 movie itself wasn't all that special. It was a basic good-vs-evil morality tale, set on other worlds, with boy-meets-girl and wizardry subplots. What made the movie really stand out was its special effects. Although they seem a bit primitive today, in 1977, they were groundbreaking and exciting. Existing special effects methods couldn't give George Lucas what he wanted, so he improvised with stunning results. That improvisation for Star Wars gave birth to Lucas' company Industrial Light and Magic, which continues to be at the forefront of special effects technology. So 30 years later, Star Wars has left an indelible mark on television and film.

I just saw a promo on AMC. They are celebrating the 25th anniversary of "Fast Times At Ridgemont High".
See oscar winning actors. Before they were winners. Kinda funny....
