stars 104.3 mess-up

I'm new here to Lubbock...the stations up here are pretty good. But tonight at around 12:30 AM I was flipping throuhg some stations and came up to Stars 104.3. I don't know whats going on tonight but Stars was playing a bunch of random songs...which is fine...except they were playing them at the same time delilah was on...so sometimes I would hear two songs at once...or I'd hear Delilah talking and the Stars 104.3 jingle being played in the background all at the same time...and then Delilah would be talking to some callers, along with some random commercials being played in the background. I don't know whats going on with Stars tonight. Did anyone else catch this mess-up? Is it just my radio or did this mess-up really happen?

Garrett, I know you stay on top of Lubbock pretty well. Did you spot the Stars 104.3 mistake?

THE WHOLE STATION IS A MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I missed that, I was too busy listening to the 500 songs on my winamp (a list I should share with everyone).

This is the station that used to be Top 40 Dance - Kiss104.3 (where I did an overnight show for 10 minutes). Stars 104.3 routinely sounds screwed up. The PD has a philosophy that you do not go into commercial stop sets with elements, so that the listener does not have time to change the station. This is old school in the radio world, from what I am told, but for the modern listening audience, it just sounds bad. He also believes that an adult formatted station should have national news at the top of the hour. Yeah, ok. And their playlist is all over the road, as is their name. Are they LiteRock104.3? StarsLikeRock104.3 or just Stars104.3 (and shouldn't it be Star 104.3? What's with the plural?)

Delilah runs 7 days a week, 7 to midnight, off of the automated Digital Universe. Unfortunately, since that is forseeably not a prime listening period for the station, if something goes wrong, it just does and that's it.

And then there's the issue of their signal, which sounds like FM out of the early 70's.

No offense to Brian Davis, but I gave up on Stars 104.3 a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago!

The plural is for the "Stars" (artist) they play.

12:55 AM...Its now been a day later...and I just flipped it on to Stars again...and the same thing is happening. Delilah is talking to a caller and I just heard the stars 104.3 jingle in the background and some random music playing right over the Delilah show.

you are right...this station has a lot of work to do. Thats pretty bad for two nights in a row. I can now hear Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water and some other song all at the same time. wow two nights in a row...but anyway, hopefully you will be able to catch it tonight...but then again, its probably smarter for you to listen to your winamp playlist.

Re: 2 nights in a row now! wow your right garrett this station has a lot of work to do.

Maybe my winamp playlist sould be on 104.3, since it crossfades,lol...

Seriously though, this will probably continue either until somebody calls them, or until they notice it themselves (and gawd forbid anyone beside Brian Davis read the message board). I dunno, maybe we should get it on tape and mail it to them.

Eitherway, I'll take my winamp, Z102, Mix100, and my aircheck library of other radio stations insted...

Hey, two songs for one. Double your money ... and all that.

Quit griping and enjoy the "twin spins". :)

Automation at its best can be entertaining huh?

Bet you couldn't wait to see what screwed up next.
