Stars 97.3's playlist

is very odd in my opinion for a station that is suppose to be "Adult Contemporary" or "Soft Rock."

I took a listen to it tonight and "Just Dance" by Lady GaGa was playing. Sounds nothing like 103.7 in Dallas, unless if Delilah is on.

Trying to compete with Mix or Kiss (to this day, I still call it Z102 sometimes) perhaps?

It amazes me to think programmers still are outhipping their listeners. If you're AC or even Cont AC you better play Elton John, Whitney Houston, Chicago, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Etc instead of Lady GaGa or the Fray. Want to see a true AC with huge Numbers? Listen to Koit in SF or WDUV in Tampa. Those are true ACs getting big numbers.

There's so much wrong with that station...playlist is one of hundreds of problems.

I've heard, and I don't know if there is any truth to this, that their sales manager was doing the music. WTF? Oh really?

RG, you have got to be joking? That would be unbelievable yet not surprising at the same time.

Honestly, if you have a station, that basically is on auto pilot, just find a successful AC station some where in the country and just mirror what they are doing. That way you can at least say you are playing etc... what you are supposed to be playing.

However, I am just tired of companies starting stations etc... in multiple formats.... so they can say that they are filling a need etc... yet when it comes down to it.... they aren't really doing anything except for taking up DIAL SPACE. You should have to actually being doing something with the station or get the hell off, ya know.

*** I know... thats extremely random... but just thought I would share that.

If BVG heard it, I would not second guess it :)

That said, I thought from the playlist that they had pretty much flipped to Adult Top 40 to compete with Mix. Which works fine with the Ryan Seacrest show. Delilah and Tesh however, do not fit in with that.

I also noticed a former KLLL/Mix person on the air in the afternoons. I agree with JJ's post.
