Start Recording: CINF-AM & CINW-AM To Disappear

Heritage Montreal AMs at 690 and 940 will become 'histoire' (a little French lingo) at about 7:00 pm Fahrenheit (I don't know what that is in Centigrade) today (Venredi 01/29). This would seem to help WRKO-AM a little bit because I've picked up splatter from CINF northwest of Burlington. Some AMs around the US that operate on 940 hHz with fleapower at night might get a little help too. When I was a yute working summers at a New Hampshire resort hotel, AM 940 in Montrteal was CBM, and I used to listen to it fairly often.

I, too, remember CBF and CBM; sad to see these signals going away. No relief for US stations on these frequencies, most of which are Class D, as they will have to protect 690 and 940 as if the two are still on the air.

It wouldn't be anything. Fahrenheit and Centigrad measure temperature, not time.

Is Canada still licensing medium wave stations or is the goal to get Canada off the band entirely? Could some other operator revive 690 or 940 at some future time? If not, can the rule requiring protection by US stations could be waived or deleted? When?

I was making a JOKE! If you've ever driven into La Canade, the speed limits are in kilometers and the temperature is Centigrade. The money used to be cheaper than the dollar, now I think not.
