State of AM Radio

The i-pod for 1040 was located in the transmitter shack because they do not have any sorta studio's yet. NO EAS equipment in the shack from what I heard.

Lack of EAS equipment is a no-no. That is the number one way to get in trouble with the FCC.

What about a legal ID? They gotta do it once an hour every hour, or they will get in trouble with the FCC.

What about the music? If they are not paying royalties, they will get in trouble with ASCAP and BMI. If they are playing music that has not been released to radio as a single, they will get in even more trouble with ASCAP and BMI, as well as the record labels.

They would be better off filing silent authority with the FCC and go dark until they figure out what to do. The owner could be knee deep in legal problems if they don't shut it down, and no one will want to buy or lease the station then.

It is nice to know that everybody is playing nice in the sandbox. :)
Oh goody... Can we play in the sandbox with our pales and shovels? lol... Atanta radio is truly a unique radio market with many talented professionals. I am curious, however, what's going on over at WSB? Cox has let so many people go over there... They've also done the cost cutting "thing" here in Florida, too.

There's a thread about Cox layoffs that has slipped from the front page HERE in case you missed it.

Well it seems WAFS 1190 is back to its correct PSSA sign off times this past week. Did someone from the FCC give them a visit? I can now hear WOWO on 1190 fade in/out in the evenings.

I can't hear WPBC 1310 in the evenings at my home location near Buckhead. I think they might have corrected their nighttime power level to the correct level.

On a side note, I have been able to hear WLAC 1510 Nashville, TN on some evenings come in quite well here in the ATL. Well enough to be received on my HD Radio in digital.

I get WLAC well, but WCKY's HD knocks out WLAC's HD and WLAC's HD knocks out WCKY's HD....ah well. Before WCKY 1530 had it on, I got WLAC's HD quite well. Of course I aided the radio with a tuneable loop. I have gotten PSD on WTAM once. No others.....

Hey you know there is a fellow in Eatonton, GA running a neatly programmed little operation..He even got a CP to increaase power on 1540 there..Nice operation with an amazingly sweet technical sound (no Iboc!) He and his wife bought another small station in Madison, GA where we happen to have a studio..Craig Baker has an unusual, but VERY listenable format..not satellite, and run from a PC with a slick program that he can adjust from home. Remotes are done on a very regular basis on both outlets, a lot of them gratis for community exposure..A lot of them paid for..You need to tune in 1250 in Madsion, and 1540 in Eatonton. He's a regular guy who loves the business, and is keeping above the waterline by making solid contacts with merchants and selling reasonable ad packages. I was glad to have met him at one of his remotes.

"The Star Station", a mix of adult standards and oldies.

He got the CP to go to 10KW on 1540 because of 1520 in Douglasville going up to 50KW.. the new WDCY signal would've prohibitively overlapped 1520 from Eatonton.
