Today 3 stations had no signal I dont know if it was weather related or what, but la raza 98.5, XO 107.9 and 100.7 The Word had no signal today. The first one to get their signal was XO 107.9, and then La Raza 98.5 and last was 100.7 The Word

98.5 and 100.7 seem to be on the same tower, and 107.9 just south of them.
It sounds like a power failure in the area, or perhaps reception conditions were blocking stations from that direction. Remember at all 3 stations have their xmtrs quite far east of town, and that could happen. In fact there have times when I have heard KASE in Austin on 100.7 over-riding the Word

coming soon to a Cumulus station near you, the next hot format, "Dead Air".

In my driveway this afternoon, I had ROCK1037 on my RDS with country music playing....

KOUL must have something aimed in this direction just to cause KIOL havoc.

The reason those stations were off the air was because the Verizon lines to the towers are on top of the ground. The tractor mowers came through and cut the line. The carriers were on, but the signals were not getting through.

Why are those lines on top of the ground, anyway?

Nope...100.7, 93.3 amd 99.9 are the ones left of the original 2000ft Devers tower owned by CC with 99.9 on its own antenna at 500ft and the other 2 combined into a 1900ft high antenna....98.5 (the 1st station out there) and 107.9 are now combined on LBI's new 2000ft tower just south of HWY 90 and SW of the CC tower.....103.7 is on its own 2000ft 5 miles SSE...and 97.5 is 7-10 miles SE from 103.7....if you look at a sectional map from the FAA, you can see them easily.

All sites are served by Entergy electric btw.....cheaper rates than the Missouri City area :)

98.5, 107.9, 103.7 and the others have RF STL backups...or T1 RF STLs as primarys in some cases. 99.9 is RF only...No, the tractor story is not valid....

The lines are buried...but the T1 repeater cases flood easily out toward the CC Devers tower (I take it you havent been out there)......The other sites are in nice dry areas and IIRC SBC/ATT services 97.5.

No. I haven't been out there. That is what was reported by the local Salem Chief engineer who went out there. In fact, he is the only engineer.

Perhaps an errant cow or angry alligator ate the lines. Perhaps the recent flooding of the Trinity River has something to do with it?

I drove by and (from a distance and at near dusk) didn't see anything obvious.
However, I stand by the errant cow statement.

I saw that sign bu I-10 and Shepherd drive before you get to Shepherd Dr going towards San Antonio to my left side.

Oh, I was talking about the Cumulus tower out in the country near Devers. My bad.
