OK... here's a general Boston radio question:

In all of Boston, who is the best morning show?

Then - station by station (BESIDES morning show) - who is the best (most entertaining jock) at each station?

Didn't we already do this thread a few weeks ago?

I think we did. Maybe it was a couple of months ago by now.

JAMN 94.5 Morning show is OK . WAAF Morning show is OK . D.C. ( WEEI ) headlines is pretty funny . Howard Stern was the Best ( R.I.P. ) . Matty in the morning( KISS 108 ) is just plan AWFUL . Besides the morning shows , there is no entertaining jocks ( say two words and then play the songs )in Boston .
______________

The best morning show in Boston is liberal talker Rachel Maddow on WKOX/WXKS from 7-9. Unfortunately, her lead in from 5-7, Marc Riley, is horrible. Rachel is out of WLIB in NY but lives in western Mass. It would be great if she started doing her show from Boston for all 4 hours.

As for local morning shows, they all stink. Obviously no one has had an original idea for a morning show in Boston since the early 90s. I would rather listen to WGBH or WBZ in a heartbeat.

Re: Didn't we already do this thread a few weeks ago?

Yeah, Boston would really let an "awful" morning show be on for 25 years.

You should look at each show objectively, and judge from the demographic it targets. If you're into JAMN and Stern you're probably a 20-35 yr. old male who hits on girls from Methuen and likes eating a Kelly's Roast Beefer.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

Ps...... next time you're at Kelly's pick me up a clam box!.

"Hits on girl from Methuen..."........Jesus that's mad funny~!.

Agreed, but he makes money, so someone must be listening...

What are you looking for anyway?

If every morning show on Boston commercial radio is so awful, what EXACTLY are you looking for? I mean, there is something for everyone in the mornings. And let's not let this turn into a Howard Stern commercial, we all know how Stern fans feel, and the transistion to satellite, blah blah. What do YOU want: music, talk, sports, jokes, what?
Okay lets try this, Cabbage_Patch, here's a radio station, a microphone, a checkbook and a morning time slot, what would YOU do with it? Make it specific, and make me want to listen to you exclusively EVERY morning. I'm an male, in the 25-54 demo, I've a family, a home and a pretty ok 9-5 job. GO!!!!!

Besides, there is no right or wrong opinion to your post, the term "best" would only generate 'subjective' answers. And you know what kind of battles and name calling, etc. that normally leads to on this board. I mean, I personally may like jock A, and 10 other people would attack me and say jock A sucks big time.
Just live with what we have, and let the arbitron gods do what they will.
Edited by Iloveradio on 01/09/06 01:16 AM.

Re: What are you looking for anyway?

Woah... I don't hate the morning shows in Boston! I think they're good, actually. I think the jocks are good too. Don't come after me! I just wanted to see other peoples' opinions... yeah, that's what this board is for right? And I realize this topic has probably been done before, but I'm just a little tired with all the talk radio topics that are always on this board. It's fine that they're there... but talk radio just isn't my thing. Oh well...

Re: What are you looking for anyway?

Someone earlier mentioned Jammin's morning show.
I like it, the few times I've listened to it. However each time I'm in the car with my son who HAS to hear Jammin' (God, I sound old), I hear a promo for Ramiro and Pebbles, imploring listeners to send in their suggestions for something they'd like to hear on the show.
Hello?!!? Isn't that what you pay a morning show producer and/or writer to do?
Friend of mine interned on that show a while ago. Said there was alot of "creative energy."
Where'd it go, then........?

I listen to news in the morning. Neither WBZ nor WBUR have "morning zoos" or anything like that.

They're ripping us off, Jim. Hoo Hoo, we invented lazy radio. - Opie and Anthony

It's a reasonable way to make the listener feel more involved and as a bonus may give you a good idea or two out of the countless crappy ones that come in.

Soccer moms driving minivans and wearing Mom Jeans and oversized sweatshirts to cover the bunt, laughing at the wretched humor of that show while fretting that their husbands are banging their secretaries.
