Station Classifications

I have another technical question for you radio folks in the know. What is the difference between licenes classifications for radio stations? For example, WTMJ is a Class B station, WRST in Oshkosh is a Class A station and WTTN is a Class D station. What do the letter classifications denote?

Once again, thank you in advance for your responses.
