Station ID

Doesn't a TV station have to ID themselves at the top of an hour? I was in my bedroom last night watching SNF in SD on DirecTv flipping between channels 10 and 40. (I'm usually in the livingroom or family room watching HD TV so, I know that I'm watching the -DT feeds on those boxes getting the HD signal from the new satellites.) I was wondering what SD signal is being shown on the old satellites. Channel 10 was IDing on the hour as WCAU-DT. I wanted to see what WMGM was feeding to DirecTv. At 9pm and 11pm, there was no ID on the screen. I wanted to see if I was watching WMGM-TV or WMGM-DT. Also, channel 40 was letterboxing the same commercials that channel 10 was cropping.

What SD is being fed to Comcast and Verizon?

From what I understand, WMGM is feeding 40.1, WMGM-DT. However, the commercials were boxed because WMGM-DT is only 4:3 SDTV right now, feeding the network's SD feed.
