Station License deleted?

I saw by the FCC database that WSLV had it's license deleted. Anyone in that area know what happened? Was it financial or just run out of operating cash? Most stations get an STA and go dark not give up the license.

It appears they never file a license renewal. They are still on the air though, I called the studio at 931-427-2178 and the lady said they were still broadcasting.

I hope they don't lose their license for good, WSLV is a heritage station in that area.

If you've got $275,000 you can buy WSLV. It's listed with a broker now.Seems a bit steep for a daytimer with no license.

I'll tell you who DOESN'T have it listed. Josh Wilkey. Wow, how did I miss my name being brought up for almost a month? :)

It has been listed since way before I ever got into the brokerage business. It's one of those listings that practically any broker could market if he/she chooses. I generally choose to avoid those sorts of listings. I won't usually try to sell a station unless me or one of my associates has an actual brokerage contract with the owner. It's easy to get boinked in those sorts of deals with muddy waters, and I have way too much work already to work for free.

If it weren't so far away from me, I might actually even be interested in buying it. That area is growing like crazy. Or rather, I would it it "existed". It'll take a fortune in legal fees to get the license reinstated, if the Commission even goes for it.

Afater what happened with the Roane County FM's and their owner it looks like the FCC will just slap their wrist and say: no,no,no...bad owner..

I hope everything works out for WSLV 1110.... its a ncie little station.

And yeah, Wilkey.. how'd you miss your name mentioned??

I noticed WSLV has been granted an STA, and applied for an extention. Anyone with any more info about the station? Are they still trying to get their license reinstated? Is the owner the Ernie Ashworth from the Grand Ole Opry?

I beleive the owner is a lady named Becky, I could be wrong on the name but I know the owner is a female. She used to work for WSLV before she bought it.

Those who are interested in stations in east Tennessee-- WHHQ 1520 in Elizabethton has been off the air since April. I think the owner might consider selling. It's worthwhile for anyone serious about a station in the Johnson City area to contact the owner.

i know the entire story about WHHQ as well, including why it's been dark.

It doesn't have it's own tower site and you would need some transmitting/studio equipment.

By the way, the owner of WHHQW also owns www.catholicfaithful.com I believe his email address is [email protected] or [email protected] his name is Paul Danesem, and he also owns WCKI 1300 Greer, SC along with APPS for about 4 or 5 new AM's in the SE United States.

Paul;

The FCC database still shows Earmie Ashworth as the owner. Maybe she was running it but not the legal owner. They had a web site at one time but it isn't active either.

As for WHHQ radio-locator shows it off the air and the FCC database doesn't have a license or deleted license for it. Didn't it have a CP for 10kw at one time or am I confussing it with another station in the Tri-Cities?

No, WHHQ never had a 10KW CP as far as I know.

WHHQ does have a license, it's just silent.............. whoever buys it has ALOT of work ahead of them.

HAHA I like that saying!

And I agree with Josh, for the most part.. the only way WHHQ would really work is if you had alot of money... And anyone who had alot of money could do better then 1520 WHHQ!

You might just be onto something, Knoxbob. Since there is one other AM, as well as an FM, licensed to the town, it should be no major problem to move it. It'll just take time, and you guessed it...money.
