Station on 900Khz overnight

Good morning Nashville Radio Board..

Anyone know who is operating 900KHz. I remember WKDA in Lebanon switching to Nashville at night, but this station airs an "almost" dead carrier with a bad 60Hz Hum, until this morning. At 6:45, while scanning the AM band, I heard it airing a CBS News Health Report. 2 minutes later it was back to the bad 60Hz hum.

Thanks for the info..I am sure this one is in Nashville. Yesterday, it aired a Spanish segment, then went back to dead air. The carrier was dropped at 7:00am at which time WKDA in Lebanon could be heard. The signal never fades.

I'm pretty sure the station in question *is* WKDA.

OK, this is a bit strange:

Back in 2002, WKDA (then with the calls WCOR) applied to move their nighttime facility to one of the WCRT-1160 (then with the calls WAMB) towers across the river from Shelby Park. It was approved on November 1, 2002.

In September 2003 that permit was amended to return the nighttime facility to Lebanon, to the same tower as the daytime facility.

Then, in April 2004 they received a permit for a nighttime *backup* facility on one of the WAMB towers.

I'm betting they're using the backup on a regular basis.

Thanks Doug, hope you are doing well.

I was tuning around last evening on my drive home and heard WKDA in Lebanon on, what I assume is their day power. Then, the "mystery 900Khz" transmitter clicked on the air at 6:15, covering up Lebanon. WKDA in Lebanon probably switched to night power at that time, as well.

I drive very close to the WCRT Transmitter site and the 900Khz signal is very strong at the exit from Briley Partway to Lebanon Road.

It seems to be to be an waste of power running a "partially" dead carrier all night.

There are two stations in Nashville an the AM Band which leaves their transmitters on over night. WENO-760 runs a dead carrier over night as well.

I've usually heard WKDA programming at night -- with a strength that leaves me pretty sure it was from the Nashville transmitter, not Lebanon. (I don't think it would be that strong downtown even if they were running day power from the Lebanon site) I'm betting they lost their STL.

Yep, WENO seems to have dropped into the dead carrier overnight thing -- maybe around the time Bott bought their FM station? (89.1)

I thought maybe that was a hot new format on Nashville Radio Stations (dead air) as I heard the station at 830Khz doing the same thing this morning. Funny thing about 900Khz, I could barely hear the daytime facility in Lebanon because it was being block by the nighttime facility in Nashville. This was about 7:00am this morning.
