[playlist snipped for reply]

Pretty decent playlist; one thing's for certain...I'd rather have an alternative station playing this in my area rather than what we have here in Savannah: an active rock station masquerading as an alternative (and yet allowed to report to Arbitron and various radio industry magazines as an alternative), Triad's WFXH (Rock 106.1). Head on over to rock1061.com and check out their playlist, if you dare. Massive amounts of Godsmack, Buckcherry, and Disturbed do not an alternative station make.

Tom, I do like your playlist. The fact that I don't recognise some bands is a good thing. Something I remember as a listener during the early days of alternative is that if you respect the source of the alternative programming, all the stuff you don't recognise right away has more merit and can be enjoyed. If I did recognise every band and song it would be a boring station.

Film', what's the signifigance and problem with WFXH's format? Their website has references to rock all over the place, the logo says "the only station that rocks", it's obviously an active rock station. In what way are they claiming to be alternative and why would it matter?

Good playlist. Some of the tracks almost give it a slight CHR-Rock lean, and that is not intended to be a slap to your playlist.

I like the idea of what it seems you're trying to do: Mass appeal with some cool gems just beneath the surface.

Thanks Salad it seems to be working. Our listenership is up alot for the past few weeks.

Um, look up their reports to Arbitron and various industry magazines and publications. WFXH self-identifies as an alternative rock station, runs intros that state "New Rock First" yet still love spinning Van Halen and Ozzy tunes in between mind-numbing nu-metal. It boggles the mind. I don't see too many Top 40 stations playing The Lovin' Spoonful or Tommy James and the Shondells. Fit the format you report as or switch to the one your station sounds like. It's as simple as that.

Lots of good bands on the list. If it was my station I'd definitely mix in some older stuff. Overall I do like the list though. Just don't let SoulCrusher see those two Fall Out Boy tunes :)

The list is our new music playlist. That's why their are no older tracks.

I really like your selection. You play some of the more indie-centric acts but also aren't afraid to play more straight-ahead rock (such as Chevelle). My question is what do you find listeners responding to? Are they liking the emo-driven acts (Ataris, Saosin, MCR, Cobra Starship) the "indie" acts (Arcade Fire, Spoon, Killers) or the more straight-ahead rock (Linkin Park, Chevelle). If you can please everyone by including all these, I'd say go for it.

Thanks for the feedback! Our listener reaction is usally very good. With the straight-ahead rock acts we don't get many comments, the Linkin Park song What I've Done is doing good, some positive feed back on that song. With the more emo-driven acts we get about 95% positive every once in a long while some one will e-mail me to complain that we only play emo music and that it sucks. Voices by Saosin was a huge hit back in Early 2007. We really got good feed back from that song. Saosin seems to be a really well liked band by our listeners. Their first single Seven Years was also a big hit at our station. Former lead singer Anthony Green's new band Circa Survive's single The Difference Between Medicine and Poison Is in the Dose is defintly getting a good responce here at the station. The indie acts get the same type of feedback as the emo acts, most people give us good feedback and one or two every month manage to complain about them.

Turly was an Alternative spelling to Truly, ok it was just a mistake. Thanks for pointing it out i have fixed it.
