Has anyone seen the "analyses" that are sent by stations to media buyers as soon as the book is released? You almost have to laugh at how they spin the results.
Here's what Clear Channel's analysis says about its own Lite FM:
"Lite was on track for a consistent performance until September, when for some unknown reason, the numbers were not there."
Here's what the same analysis says about Lite's most direct competitor, B98.5:
"B98 dropped from #9 to #13 with Adults 25-54, Summer 05 to Summer 06. Slow slide throughout the dayparts from 05 to 06, dropping the station out of the top 10 in many dayparts. Same pattern seen with Adults 18-34. Lost 100,000 in cume over the last 4 books."
Of course, that's all true. But frankly, Lite was down in Adults 25-54 by 23% in the summer book, and B98.5 was down 9%. B98.5 handily beat Lite in the demo.
I realize some people feel Summer to Summer is the best comparison, but I bet Lite has lost more than B98.5 in the past 12 months.
Not that Clear Channel's analyses contain any less propaganda than those coming from Cox or anyone else.
