What would you think of Davidson's 105 being sold to a Charlotte group and making the switch to Oldies or Classic Hits? The signal is certainly strong enough to play in the nations 25th largest market. That would shut down the WTHZ signal from Greensboro and put a real damper on The Ride! Thoughts?

What Charlotte group could/would want to buy it?

Isn't the WTHZ signal moving to Faith [as their COL] to be closer to Charlotte?

Also, nobody can put a damper on The Ride. They will just keep doing what they want to do, what makes them happy. ;)

Isn't this the point where someone comes in and says: What Charlotte needs is:

a) an Active Rock station

b) a Hot A/C station

c) none of the above

I agree that another active rock or A/C in Charlotte would not be a wise move. Dave has been in the radio business for years and has never really rattled anybody's cage. He does need to be commended for sticking to his guns and airing what he wants on his radio station. The Ride will always be a minor player in the Charlotte market and there will always be some audience for what they do.

Hey Moonshine,

I agree Charlotte doesn't need another AC, as they have Lite102.9 & K104.7

You agree that ANOTHER Active Rocker in Charlotte would not be a wise move?

Charlotte doesn't have an Active Rocker.

They have 106.5/The End, which is Alternative & plays some Active Rock songs.

True Active Rock listeners tune to 93.3/The Planet in Greenville & 100.3/The Buzz in Greensboro.

IMHO, those markets are better than Charlotte!

Charlotte is the largest market between DC & Atlanta.

They deserve their own Active Rock outlet.

See I knew it....we've been here a few times before.

Just as there is a difference between Active Rock and Alternative Rock some would say there is also a difference between Hot A/C and A/C.

I'm just sayin'.....

I vote for a WWV format....all time....all the time!

I think oldies could still have potential in charlotte. They will need to advertise more. That may have been the reason why W-OLS never made it past 1 year. Also, Majic 94.1 seems to be leaning more towards 80s music again. Are they switching back?

WTHZ is sounding more like a Classic Rock station than Oldies. Gig Hilton must be getting involved with the music again. I ageee that The Ride and Dave need a pat on the back for sticking with "his" format and yes there will always be some audience for what he does. I also agree that Dave has never really been a threat to any of his competitors in Charlotte. He could make some slight moves and put himself in the mainstream of Chrlotte radio and with a little advertising I think he could have a winner! Dave is a really good broadcaster but if he intends to be a player in Charlotte he will have to make some changes.

Wonder if anyone has ever tried to put Armed Forces Radio on the air in the states.. I actually started to like it when I was in Germany... "At the tone//it's 1500 hours in Frankfurt..la di la di do! BIG APE

I don't think they have a Program Director, so yes, Gig, his Daughter, and Tom Collins all put their fingers in the programming. It's really surprising they have any ratings. May be going more 80's because that's what 98.7 Simon is doing and it seems to be working for them.

Does anyone really listen to this crap? It's not good and so bad. They know nothing about how do anything correct. BIG APE needs to step in and clean house

;D Thanks for the vote Jim...I could probably do that, but I don't see the advantage..Nobody...Yes NOBODY..whoops that's a grating car commerical isn't it!! ha...I in all sincereity think that NOBODY is listening to any of these "crappy" stations in the Triad, Charlotte, Raleigh or anywhere else. I personally do not even turn on the car radio any more.. I watch Porn on the computer when I'm driving! BIGAPE

I watched porn once while I was driving. I'll never forget it. It was going on in the car next to me LIVE during the day at Independence and Albemarle Rd. I could not believe what I saw!

I agree about the stations in charlotte being horrible. The only station that seems to sound ok to me is w-avo. Wish they would move back to 106.1. Majic sounds so much like 104.7 and 95.7 that I can't listen to that anymore.
