STATION SOLD IN SAINT AUGUSTINE

Was through there this weekend - the audio was awful, but the little FM translator was kicking. Scratchy at Vilano, good through town, and peters out down around St. Augustine Shores.
 
Their new FB page has shown some pictures of a nice open window studio. Except for some weak testing music, they are doing well.
 
I've only listened to the stream, as their signal doesn't reach into Palm Coast. As far as the early days of their complete package, they've done fine. Tweaking or replacing the processing is an easy fix. Now we'll watch and listen to see if you get things right in Leesburg.

Geddings will get it right for sure - this isn't his first rodeo. The interesting thing will be to see how he does against the existing stations.
 
But they are already there and profitable and have been for years - unlike Geddings station. We will see how it goes - it definitely will be interesting.
 
Big swing in the stories here regardning the new Geddings stations vs his ex wife's Phillips Broadcasting. What is the big difference between the two other than one is music and one is not? I've listened to both on the stream but would like to hear from those in the area that can shed some light on this subject.
 
Phillip's stations are 1240 WFOY with an all news format for decades, and 1420 WAOC which is an ESPN affiliate. Geddings station was Spanish programming and has been dark for over a year. All lower power AM's - 1240 and Geddings station are not even 1KW, and Geddings station is a day timer.

Most interesting angle is the ex-wife/husband situation. And then there is WYRE 105.5, but I do not know how they will figure into the equation as the formats are so far apart.
 
It's been a few weeks since I have listened to the stream of either of these stations. Tuned in yesterday to WFOY and there was nothing on the air around 7am! Switched my stream to WSOS and after one tune it also had dead air for a good ten minutes. Maybe this is a family thing? If this is there presentation for success then I strongly suggest they rethink their game plan. Both companies, in my opinion, are operating with little or no management or there is race to see who can do radio the worst! The winner in this race may very well be The Wire.
 
I agree. Things at WSOS have now done nothing but go downhill. Most of the time I tune into the station after morning drive, its off the air, or suffering from major dead air. And the music is ALL over the place. Very unfocused!
 
It sounds like a copy of WROD Daytona's music library was copied before Mr. Geddings left the beach, and he brought it to the new WSOS. We all know its not only what you play, its how you play it. Station has neither. And where's the imaging?
 
I attempted to listen to both the stations today and finally had to shut it off. WFOY was on the air but there was some really sad morning talk so I switched over the WSOS and heard one turn then dead air. How do these people plan to make any money when they can't get simple things like being on the air consistenty right? I was under the impression that both Geddings and Phillips had some degree of broadcast experience?
 
I could say more, but I won't. Nuffsaid is correct. Go to their FB pages and let it be known. That way they will see it.
 
OK 1250WTAE what do you know that we don't? We know there is trouble with both the stations presentation and professionalism. We know they must have poor management! What are you holding back from teh boards? Does that sound like Joe Friday from Dragnet?
