Station to go dark?????

Sources tell me that station KTPA-1370 AM in Prescott may be going dark. Reports say that the station is currently simulcasting sister station KXAR in Hope now and has dumped it's gospel format due to low sales. Also, the station needs alot of work, technically. KTPA is a 1 KW daytimer that is owned by the Sudbury group. Anyone heard anything about this??

I would hate to see any station go dark....

I believe the Prescott sporting events are carried on KHPA 104.9 FM, so they cover the community events on the other stations. And they probably already get a substantial amount of advertising out of Prescott on the FM. They wouldn't want to open it up for a competitor....

I'd at least try to move it out of the market before I took it dark. If they can move an AM from Mountain Grove, MO to Cincinatti, OH surely you could move KTPA into a bigger market on a different frequency somewhere during the next AM window.

I've heard a little bit...i mean I know what happened but do you have any inside info?

i have only heard as much as you have posted...not in the area anymore so i can't really say
