A tornado has gone through Jasper. Lots of damage in town, and I'm hearing a complex of condominiums are nearly leveled. Plenty of concern near Livingston, as well, as the tension continues to build over whether the damaged dam will hold. Angelina County has reported a 48mph wind gust at the airport, Houston County reported 39. Up to 60mph expected up to Cherokee and Rusk Counties.
 
KTSU is back. HD1 not locking but HD2 is. Sounds like The Choice & The Vibe are playing at the same time

What is KTRH hurricane coverage like these days? Hurricanes were when KTRH pulled out all the stops and was the place to go to find out what was happening. But I have to imagine that staffing is much thinner now.

There were propane generators both at 510 Lovett and the Dayton tx site.

Thanks for the report. I am a few hundred miles from Houston, but I was listening to KTRH for a while earlier today in the car.

Based on your post, it seems like the large broadcasters (iHeart, Audacy, Univision, and Radio One) and the local broadcasters with large signals/audiences (KSBJ, KUHF) fared pretty well.

Not intended as snark. The affected area has a lot of radio stations. Many on this very site have claimed radio is potentially a go-to during natural or man made disasters, and consumers are foolish if they don't keep a portable radio with batteries around.
Here we are, a natural disaster with a wide footprint and regular contributors to this very site in the path. So far, all I've seen has proven the vulnerability of radio stations that get caught up in the same disaster.
 
Was down in Lavaca county the storm just missed us. I noticed in bay city happy radio was off and KIOX was off, 101.7 was dead air. Surprised though KXBJ was working fine.

93.3 TUDN was transmitting UNIVISION 45 news. Kept me updated

Was KXBJ doing live storm coverage or instructing listeners what to do?

Only if KSBJ was. I do want to note before KIOX went off the air, they were giving a lot of updates on the storm.

I did hear KSBJ and KUBJ do EAS relays. But on my checks it seems like music as normal.
KUHF had some good info during when the storm was hitting but they’re back to the normal programming.
