Stations downed by Irene

To steal the subject from Leghigh Valley's board:
WARL off as of 10:36 or so.
WVBF off before 10:20.

Any others?

WADK 1540, WJZS 99.3, WXHQ-LP 105.9 were all off tonight.

WARV 1590 is off.

The front page of Radio Info made it sound like a catastrophe, that the damage was much worse than expected.

But none of this sounds like a big deal to me. 1320's website says they are off the air because they have no electricity. And apparently no generator. (Well whose fault is that?) ???

Some little 1KW daytimer on 1540. Some religious stations that probably don't have generators. An LP. *Shrug*

Sounds like you guys got off easy!

I'm cynical enough to think that if the Peter Arpin "Empire of the Air" does have a generator....they're probably saving it for when it'll be time to haul it up to Burrilville to get 990-WALE on the air just long enough to hang onto that license for another year.

Anyway....back to the topic at hand....at around 11 am this morning, Hall's WLKW 1450 was also off the air.

I heard that someone heard the killer Snail (that name goes back to the Battaglias' ownership) on 8/18 around 09:15 or so & by 10:30 it was back off. The programming heard? An open mic.

Hmmmmmm....... Interesting. Not remembering the time frame last year when "The Minnow" went silent, I have no way of knowing if that little demonstration satisfied the minumum requirement for that "ownership" to keep its paws on the license for another year.

In any event......The FCC might do well to re-think this little rule. I'm sure "The Open Mike Program" did a really great job of serving the public interest. ;D
