Stations in Ft. Myers, FL

I've noticed that Z100 in Ft. Myers has stopped broadcasting their HD-2 station which featured cool jazz. Now the HD- 1 station also sounds sort of fuzzy. I don't think it is broadcasting in HD and analog. Whatever they have done has screwed up the qualiy of their sound. Also, The River 95.3 has dropped their HD - channel, but the HD 1 sounds good and clear.

I've noticed that some stations do not register on my HD display but their playlist still shows up on my screen. Are these stations using some sort of HD broadcasting?

I guess this means they have officially unloaded smooth jazz in RSW! (The call letters used to be on the frequency when smooth jazz was on regular FM, which was on 100.1 and for awhile on 107.1, which is now Cat Country).

Wow...Someone else....

I was in Sanibel a couple of weeks ago and only noted as interesting or semi-interesting WOLZ 95.3 HD-2 running the CC "Format Lab" 60s/70s format under their old "Oldies 95.3" name (seems to be an hour or so ahead/behind of WKII/1070), WGCU-2 running MPR's "Classical 24", and WJPT-2 running "Solid Gold 106", which is a cool sounding deep playlisted 60s-90s mix.

Didn't get HD on 100.1, 107.1, and 105.5.....The day I checked 103.9-2 it was dead air, and 96.1-2 seems to be //WWCN, not "Haney's Big House" as previously reported.

I miss Haney's Big House. I listened to it often. I should have let the management know that they had a listener. Now that WWCN 770 is also broadcasting on 96.1 HD-2, the guys on the Miller and Moulton show give away an HD radio every weekday.

They'll have to give them away, because the public isn't buying them.

We had a major automotive dealer in the market who did a promotion (actually, "attempted promotion") where everyone who bought a car got an HD converter. You know: free.

After 90 days the dealer told the station to come back and get the HD converters. Customers were passing on them, even when they cost nothing.

Maybe Miller and Moulton should say, "9th caller gets a hundred bucks to accept an HD Radio - and we'll also give you the radio!!" :D :D

Who hasn't rented radios disguised as cars before?

I think I will share this with them on their facebook page. They might just do it.

Not enough to ever get me to accept another HD Radio (If they threw in a nice analog tuner as well, then I'd accept!) 8)

X-degrees of separation footnote: about a decade ago I was the imaging voice for WWCN, back when Thom "Big Dog" Abraham was there. Just think, I may have had to do liners promoting HD Radio!!

I volunteer to be the sourpuss who bitches that this should be here.

No...Not a sourpuss.....I agree, too......Ft. Myers is a place I visit often and I'd like to know why the apparent turnoff of HD on a couple of stations.

Is anyone with the power to move this post reading??

Was it O'Brien?

:D

I know they have been having hardware problems with the "computers" used to generate the HD. The manufactures used a end of life motherboard and that same motherboard suffers from poor quality componets, and after the fact replacements have proven to be iffy if anything. It will get fixed.
