Stations no one would miss...

Might as well get this ball rolling like Dighton said. 990 and 1320 come to mind. Who else would merit that on AM, and who on FM?

Hot 106 and 933

That's kind of a sweeping statement and probably based more on your listening habits. People would miss HOT 106 given that if you want nothing but hip hop then PRO-FM isn't your station and the next best thing is JAMN in Boston. Granted you're comparing a major market station with HOT but listeners may not see it that way.

As far as Coast, everybody loves to hate them and always has. I think going Hot AC was a good move but am not sure they're doing it right. They don't have the luxury of a staff like Mix 98.5 in Boston. Mix sounds hip. Coast doesn't. They may have scared away a lot of their listeners but now we'll have to see if they can bring in new ones. Personally I don't think they can the way things are going now. A lot hinges on the morning show and hell will freeze over before the PRO-FM morning audience decides to shop for a new show.

But as we're constantly reminded Clear Channel would miss Coast. That's about it. In the station's current state they wouldn't be missed. The old version wasn't that hot but you could say the loyal listeners would have missed it. The new version hasn't been around long enough for anyone to care that much.

102.7 ( I have not listen to 102.7 since Hot 106 was here ) .

102.7 was Steve Conti's Jazz station for awhile and has been NPR for the past 6 months as 102.7 is to replace the 1230 am frequency from Westerly as Chris Dipaola awaits approval from Patrick Lynch for a take over of WERI or whatever it is.

I don't hate 93.3. I just happen to think that it's a station that's spent almost all of its existence (maybe all of it)......aimlessly searching for an identity, and never really finding one. In this respect, I agree with Holland in that it's the market's 'one music station too many'.

On the AM side......Dave Gardner wins the prize for correctly guessing my two votes for this catagory!! Perhaps the only people who would miss 990 and 1320 might be Peter Arpin and his assorted cronies. ;)

990 cold be saved if someone put the work into it. WARL would be much better off if it stopped trying to be a Providence wanabe and agan became an Attleboro station. I remember how good it used to sound in its WARA days. You can't hear th station much outside the Prov. city limits anyway as it protects co channel WATR in Waterbury, and probably gives 1st-adjacent protection WRCA 1330, and WICH 1310. As for 93.3, perhaps it's time Clear channel went with a simulcast of WHJJ to counter WPRO.....

Perhaps Peter Arpin should go into the moving business like his father. (Or is that his brother? I forget) - Paul Aprin Van Lines.

93.3 should flip to an FM talker with at least 2 live shifts with big names to the area and 920 am should just go spanish talk or something.LMA'ing it out.

WHJJ will not be missed by me in its current form.As a matter of fact.Stick a fork in it.Its done.
