I believe the term is money-making songs.
I might play a lot of Halloween music on Halloween night. But until then, just play a few now and then.I love the music that comes out this time of year, but @Mikey Radio is right: The employees end up listening to it for weeks on end with no rest, and IMO, it is torture for them, and they probably even become numb to these songs after a while. There has got to be a better way.
Perfect!I might play a lot of Halloween music on Halloween night. But until then, just play a few now and then.
But how will that help Safeway, Kroger, or Walmart with their marketing? I say that with sarcasm of course.I might play a lot of Halloween music on Halloween night. But until then, just play a few now and then.
Some Christian conservatives/Bible-thumpers still do.Halloween wasn't celebrated here until the 1840's . That's because many of it's traditions come from Samhain, a Celtic event for the Lord of Death-God of Winter. America's early Christion's thought it was honoring the devil.
A lot of them replace it with "Trunk or Tweet" and "Harvest Festival".Some Christian conservatives/Bible-thumpers still do.
It's actually a year round HD2 format out of Louisville, KY (WAMZ 97.5) Along with the songs mentioned; "Welcome To My Nightmare" ",Day-O" (Beetlejuice), "Dead Man's Party" "Tubular Bells" (The Exorcist), Will Smith's "Nightmare On My Street" "Witchy Woman" "Addams Groove", Werewolves Of London"...and lots of Ghost Stories (Louisville is known for many Haunted Hot Spots)iHeartRadio is heavily advertising their online-only Halloween music channel. But besides "Monster Mash", "Thriller", and "Spooky" how much is there to play? Are they filling it up with the kiddie music and sound effects from old K-Tel records?
On Friday, October 31, 2003, a Baptist church in Manhattan's Upper East Side held a Harvest Festival in which the youth were encouraged to wear costumes, as long as they were not spooky. One boy entered the event wearing a grim reaper costume, but the youth counselors promptly told the boy to remove it. The boy complied, and he was allowed to stay as a result of his compliance.A lot of them replace it with "Trunk or Tweet" and "Harvest Festival".
I remember at least one station chopping up "Someone Saved" in morning drive when it was currentIt's odd that they were still pushing for "Bohemian Rhapsody" to be edited, when Elton John just had a huge hit with "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", which was nearly a minute longer than it!
Probably they just thought the opera section was too weird and they wanted it cut out.
Ha! From 8 1/2 minutes down to 3? Somewhat akin to when one of the sketch comedy shows illustrated what it would be like if an episode of The Sopranos were edited to be broadcast on one of the religious networks. An hour Sopranos episode with all the foul language, brutality, murdering and drug use cut out, ended up clocking in at about 2 1/2 or 3 minutes.Who remembers the 3 minute edit of American Pie?
Now we return to regular topic…
The mono promo 45 of "American Pie" was 4:21 and was not just an edit, it was actually a complete re-recording of the song, and quite a bit more upbeat than the commercial version:I stand corrected. Short version was closer to 4 minutes than 3 according to wiki who we all know is totally accurate.![]()
