Or, maybe they stopped broadcasting because they knew you were going into the store! ;D

Breeze (WWZY Long Branch) signal troubles on 2/17

Seems like there is a problem with WWZY's signal today, as well... Starting at about 1:20 PM today, the fairly strong signal here in Central Jersey turned into nothing. I'm hearing the Peak from New York, with only some "Breeze" here and there. It's quite disappointing. I was really enjoying Bob Shannon, and then... poof. No more Breeze. Something going on in Long Branch today?

Twas another bout of electrical power problems in Long Branch on Saturday afternoon. An alternate transmitter from the studio site filled in during the downtime. Hopefully these things are supposed to be rare, at least for that site, but it has been popping up lately.

Most likely it was the ice storm

Monmouth County got hit hard by the ice storm. Jersey Central Power & Light reported major outages, especially in the more ritzy towns like Rumson and Fair Haven.

For several days the entire tower and antenna, about 500 feet of WHTG-FM was a giant popsicle, coated with ice. The transmitter folded back to 30 % while the antenna was iced over.
