stations that have been doing a lot better than before

WFLY/Albany began a decline in the mid-2000s when they tried to do a modern rock-based playlist... I believe at one point, WKKF was actually ahead of both WFLY and WAJZ :p

Nowadays, usually WKKF and WAJZ are almost tied while WFLY is on top... if WKKF ever flipped, WAJZ would likely be in the top 5 almost every book...

While I don't think WKKF has ever held ratings higher than the low 3s, WAJZ has bweaten WFLY in the ratings several times, and might be ahead of Fly with certain age demos

WYOY has been seeing a resurgence. They scored a 6.2 for the fall ratings and that seems to be the highest they've had in at least a decade, or at least from what I can recall.

For years in Kansas City KMXV has always topped the ratings as the leading CHR. But now Cumulus KCHZ is the #1 rated station in Kansas City. Funny thing is KMXV has a full power signal while KCHZ tower is based in Ottawa KS. Not sure why Mix is down. The current PD Ponch has been at the station for a long time. Since CBS sold its Kansas City Cluster to Wilks things have gone down hill. KCHZ only has 2 jocks and Billy Bush at night. KCHZ also does very good in Topeka KS since KLZR flipped to Hot AC back in 2003.

I think WIOQ/Philadelphia is doing a lot better now than it had been in the previous years - also almost positive that WIHT/Washington has the highest ratings right now that it's ever had

(Pretty sure about these, but not positive)

I'm pretty sure you're right about both Q-102 Philly and Hot 99.5 DC.
Major props also go out to Kiss 108 Boston for that incredible 10 share, 106.1 Kiss FM Dallas with nearly a 7 share, 101.3 KDWB Minneapolis closing in on a 9 share, 93.7 KRQ Tucson is also closing in on a 10 share, B-104.3 Allentown posted an 11.3 share. All these stations currently rank in first place 12+.
96.5 Kiss FM Cleveland is on a roll up to a 7 share, 104.3 Now FM in Vegas has nearly a 5 share,

u mean B104.1 correct? I go to school near the station actually the Lehigh Valley Malls right next to it and stuff and their studios are in Whitehall. Idk how far they are from where I observe for student teaching but it's a good station. wish i'd drop its adult sound

Just listing CHRs that are doing really well (although I think most of these have always done well)...

G105/Raleigh has an 8.0 share - 92 Pro-FM/Providence has a 9.9! WIXX/Green Bay has a 13.5 - KLAL/Little Rock has an 8.6 - and WKRZ/Wilkes-Barre is up 1.5 to a 9.6!!

Lol WRTS/Erie PA has a 19.0!

I fear for 92 Pro and Alice 107.7 that if Cumulus gets its hands on them they'll become much more watered down, or a shadow of their former selves.
In Raleigh Pulse 102 is doing very well with over a 3 share despite the fact that its two signals don't properly penetrate the entire market.

Over in Elmira, NY the top 2 stations are CHR. Wink 106 has a 12.3 share while rival 94 Rock has a 7.4 share.
Same deal in Green Bay where WIXX 101.1, as has been noted, is the perrenial leader while runner up 95.9 Kiss FM is also up to double digit numbers with a 10.7 share.
103.3 KFR has a 15.8 share in Battle Creek and amazingly enough a 15.8 share in Kalamzoo as well!!!

Stations like 98.5 KRZ and WIXX are institutions. KRZ was even able to pull off something like a 14 share around 1993 when a lot of CHRs were struggling or bailing on the format. What was once pretty distinctive about CHRs from that region (KRZ, B-104 Allentown, Wink 104 Harrisburg, 98 YCR York) was that they were also able to get away with playing some 70s Classic Rock in regular rotation during the daytime. 93.7 STW Wilmington is still like that, and at times is very difficult to classify.

As for Erie's Star 104, I remember them posting similar ratings around 97 or 98 - they drove rival Jet 102 out of the format. So they've been among the highest rated CHRs in the country several times.

Other CHRs that oftentimes post double digit 12+ numbers include:
106.7 The Border New York (16.4 share)
Mix 100.7 Terre Haute (16.1 share)
95.5 WIFC Wausau (15.6 share)
101.5 BNQ Bloomington (15.3 share)
Hits 106 Grand Island, Nebraska (13.6 share)
101.9 WVAQ Morgantown, WV (13.6 share)
Kee 100 Huntington, WV (13.2 share)
106.3 KFRX Lincoln (12.7 share)

Yeah I didn't realize that 92 Pro was Citadel - they're leaning really Alternative now, and getting a 9.9 share, so if Cumulus messes with it and makes it conservative I'm gonna be pretty upset lol - not sure though that they could get away with that in a city like Providence though which is really liberal (actually, does Cumulus even own any CHRs in liberal markets?)

Yeah, I don't know what it is about Pennsylvania and Classic Rock, but I remember Reading PA had a Hot AC/Classic Rock hybrid that was at the top of its market (or close) for a really long time - I couldn't believe they played Avril Lavigne followed by Zeppelin (and got double digit ratings!)

Two reason why WPRO has been leaning more towards Modern AC lately: sister Rhythmic WWKX and fellow Top 40 WFHN. BTW 92Pro has been evolving towards Hot AC for some time.

Ehh...I think it's more that Providence has a really "light" Hot AC station which borders on mainstream AC, so Pro-FM basically covers the younger HAC demo - WFHN is just a fringe signal from New Bedford MA, so I don't think that station has much to do with it

There's a big difference though between leaning Hot AC and leaning Modern AC, so I really hope Cumulus doesn't mess that up

STAR 104 in Erie is an absolutely epic CHR. Great large-market sounding presentation, jingles and good jocks. Another cool thing about the station is they are a straight up mainstream CHR and don't shy away from the Rhythmic or dance product, unlike most small market CHRs.

An interesting thing to note about Harrisburg's WINK 104 is that they actually had a talk show from 3-7PM until 2001! I couldn't even fathom an afternoon talk show on CHR these days.
