Stations w/presenters from outside those stations' markets

How many stations do you know of that have/ have had presenters who are/were not from the markets of those stations? I know of quite a few:

--In L.A. on KNBC, Colleen Williams is one of the main anchors, but she is a Tar Heel (she's from Winston-Salem). Similarly, on KTTV, John Beard is one of the main 10 P.M. anchors, and he is also a Tar Heel (he's from Wilmington, also the birthplace of famed CBS anchor Charles Kuralt).

--In Dallas, on WFAA, Dale Hansen is the sports anchor, and has been for a good long while. He's not from Texas, however-- he's a Hawkeye (hailing from Logan, Iowa).

--In NYC on WABC, Greg Hurst was a 5 P.M. anchor, but he's a Texan (speaking of which, he's now on Houston CBS station KHOU).

--In Boston on WCVB, Tom Ellis was an influential anchor there before going to WNEV (now WHDH); he's also a Texan.

--One of the most famous (or infamous) examples is that of Jerry Springer, an Englishman from London; the earliest I've heard of him is that he was a regular contributor on the late edition of WLWT in Cincinnati (it was a commentary segment called "Nightbeat"). He then became a main anchor starting in 1985 and going to the early-90s; at that time, he started the most influential and infamous outing of his career, a discussion show that bore his name (that show still runs to this day from Chicago). He now also hosts "Baggage," a dating show on GSN.

What other stations do you know of that have/have had personalities from outside those stations' markets?

John Beard is now in Buffalo, NY.

Roger Grimsby from KGO-TV and WABC-TV was from Minnesota.
The late Pete Wilson from KGO and KRON was from Wisconsin
By the Way Colleen Williams of KNBC and NBC News had a short stint at KPIX in 1982.

Paul Moyer of KABC and KNBC and Micah Olman of KTLA and KABC are LA born TV anchors. Paul Moyer had a short stint in South Dakota & NYC before landing in LA.

The late Dave Machellatton was from San Francisco and spent time at KCBS AM 740 and KPIX 5 his hometown stations.

Correct! I meant to make that correction, until I noticed your response. I was also incorrect about his place of birth-- it was actually St. Pauls, NC; Wikipedia told me. Thanks for making that correction for me. I said what I originally said based off what I last saw.

I also know that Nick Clooney was one of the main anchors on "News 4 L.A." on KNBC; he's from the Bluegrass State.

Also, WSMV in Nashville has had main anchor Demetria Kalodimos and former weatherman Pat Sajak; both are from Chicago.

...for all the markets where Tom Snyder anchored a local TV newscast and/or was a local TV news reporter -- WNBC-TV/4 and WABC-TV/7 New York, KNBC/4 and KTLA/5 Los Angeles, KYW-TV/3 Philadelphia, KYW-TV/3 Cleveland, WLWA/11 Atlanta, WSAV-TV/3 Savannah -- his only broadcast work in his native Milwaukee was a year at WRIT Radio...

The Late Ken Matz had a short stints on KGO, KTTV and WMAR before going back home to Pennsylvania for WCAU-TV.

Yeah, not sure I get the point here. It is more rare in a major market for the anchor to be from that market than from somewhere else.

Let me take my home market, Seattle. On the NBC affiliate, Jean Enerson started her career there, but she is a California native. Dennis Bounds, her co-anchor comes from Minneapolis, and who knows where before that. On the CBS affiliate, the main anchors are from way outside the NW, and on the ABC affiliate, Dan Lewis came from Milwaukee and other markets, while Kathi Goertzen, now on extended medical leave is probably one of the only NW natives.

Like most markets, we've had dozens pop into Cleveland from elsewhere, though the local stations make special note of their "hometown teams".

The Fox affiliate, WJW/8 "Fox 8", uses the slogan "Cleveland's own", and the NBC affiliate, WKYC/3, once ran promos touting which part of Northeast Ohio their anchors and reporters were from (i.e. weeknight weather anchor Betsy Kiing grew up in Copley, a suburb of Akron, and I believe stlll lives there today).

Market weather icon Dick Goddard (WJW, there for nearly all of his 50 years in TV) is from the Akron suburb of Green (then Greensburg), and I believe lives in Medina these days. He got his post-military career started as a forecaster at the Akron/Canton Airport, a very short drive from his Greensburg hometown.

Though he was born in Queens NY, Al Roker of NBC's "Today" forecasted the weather on-then NBC O&O WKYC for many years - until heading (home, really) to NYC, and anchoring on WNBC/4 there until moving to "Today".

Like many who establish significant broadcasting beachheads here, most locals consider Al to be a "Clevelander", even if he has no birth ties here.

How about Shannon O'Donnel she is a Seattle Native who does the weather for her hometown but she had a stint in San jose doing the NBC 11 News here in CA. Marc Brown of KABC is from LA but he had a short stint on KNTV 11 back in 1985 in San Jose.

In Denver, just about EVERYBODY is from some other state. In fact, it's A LOT easier to list the people who ARE natives of Colorado than it is to list the ones who aren't.

The one person that comes to my mind right now is Jeremy Hubbard from KWGN 2/KDVR 31 (CW/FOX respectively). He of course originally left KDVR to join ABC but has since "Returned Home" (As he put it in the promos) after his ABC stint. There may be others (I doubt it though) but he's the one I can think of right now

Cheers :D

Even in a smaller market like Charleston, most of the anchors are from outside the area. Brendan Clark at WCBD is from Elmira, NY but he graduated from South Carolina. Dean Stephens on WCIV is from Texas. Debi Chard of WCSC is from a small town in Iowa.

KGO-TV in the early 1990's had replaced Bay Area Native Anna Chavez and Wisconsin's Pete Wilson with Canada's Terilyn Joe and Richard Brown (Later to KXLY and now back in Canada).
However in the early 1990's KGO did poorly in the ratings until the Disney Takeover when they got Dan Ashley from WTVD and WCBD from the Carolinas to replace Richard Brown at the anchor seat. Carlos Amezcua of KTTV and KTLA is an LA native that had a short stint on WCBS.
