Status of Gina Maravilla?

Does anyone know what is going on with Gina Maravilla? She was teamed up with Chambo on CBS-5 mornings. She went on pregnancy leave. I checked KPHO's website and her name/bio isn't there. Is she no longer with the station? ???

my shooter friend says Gina was on maternity leave, and they decided to go in a different direction with their morning show when they brought in Chambo...

so basically she got the heave-ho while in labor... kind of a crummey way to go.

I'm hearing that they haven't solidified a replacement for her just yet...so I guess what you see now is an open audition...live... every morning at 4:30am.

the last time I was in PHX, I watched Chambo on 5... and he seemed like he was still sleeping. Maybe he was still getting used to the hours...but he just didn't look like he wanted to be there. Has that changed much?

Maybe he needs to sip on whatever the duo over at 12 is drinking...because they sounded like they were doing the show from a meth lab!

You know I've heard that too but the timing would seem to be setting themselves up for a lawsuit. You have to wonder whether there isn't more to that story?

Seriously though, isn't it like kind of illegal to terminate a woman on maternity leave??? I guess that they paid her for the remaining time on her contract.

If it is true, that is messed up. For granted, a television station has a right to hire/fire and make programming changes to whomever they want, but while a female is on maternity leave? What kind of signal does that give to our young females?

Not exacty...her co-anchor got blown to pieces in Iraq (and survived). Rather doubtful he'd be back anytime soon, so the dynamic duo was reduced by one. Not wanting to waste time looking for a new co-anchor, ABC wisely put Charles Gibson in the chair and let Elizabeth go back to 20~twenty. Smart move for both.

Vargas announced her good news a little bit after Bob Woodruff got hurt. While they could have teamed up someone with Vargas long term, it made it easier to just promote a person who many people thought that going to get the job in the first place, Gibson. My point was if Vargas wasn't going to be gone for 12(?) weeks would they have bumped her back to 20/20 or would ABC tried to find a replacement for Woodruff?

No doubt that ABC would have been in a tougher position if Elizabeth weren't having a child. My issue is that they should have given ABC World News to Charles all along.
