Status of Michelle McPhee DWI and Cop Assault Case?

WMEX radio is standing behind afternoon drive-time host Michele McPhee, who pleaded not guilty yesterday to drunken driving and assaulting a state trooper after being pulled over early yesterday on Interstate 93 in South Boston.

“Michele McPhee is a respected member of the 1510 WMEX family, and the management of 1510 WMEX stands behind her in this difficult time as we would any friend or family member,” according to a statement put out by the AM station.

“We leave it to the judicial system of the State of Massachusetts to provide due process and justice to Michele, while we continue to support her within our family, and wish her a speedy recovery from the serious injuries that she sustained in the course of this event,” the statement read.

McPhee, 45, of East Boston is accused of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer.

State Trooper Patrick J. Cadeliere stopped McPhee’s Mercedes SUV on Interstate 93 northbound in South Boston around 1 a.m. yesterday after noticing her vehicle was swerving in and out of lanes and coming “within mere inches of sideswiping the jersey barrier on right side of the road,” according to court documents.

When Cadeliere spoke with McPhee, she allegedly admitted to drinking wine with dinner, told him she had “defended cops for 30 years” and demanded that he contact high-ranking members of the state police about pulling her over, court documents show.

“Call any Trooper, Dana Pullman or the colonel so I can leave,” McPhee said before refusing to submit to a field sobriety test, documents show.

When she realized she was being placed under arrest, Cadeliere said, McPhee became belligerent and kicked him while saying, “I’m calling the colonel ... let me go ... get a supervisor.”

Cadeliere, who suffered a leg injury during the dispute, said he had to radio for backup to help place McPhee under arrest. McPhee suffered a head injury during the struggle to put her in handcuffs, court documents show.

McPhee’s defense lawyer, Chaz Fisher, said she spent six hours at Tufts Medical Center overnight and needed more than 20 stitches to close a wound to her head. He declined to comment after the arraignment.

McPhee, who does not have a criminal record, was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court Aug. 4 for a pretrial hearing.

McPhee, a former reporter for the Herald and WCVB TV, has also written and reported for ABC News, Boston Magazine and others.

Nothing worse than a angry drunk.
But " In Vino Veritas"!
Now, we really know who you are.
Get help. Get sober. Get your life back on track.

She has a FOUR PAGE DRIVING RECORD....
SINGLE SPACED?

Further, the Globe states that the Registrar of Motor Vehicles has revoked her license. The Registrar is given that authority only if the driver poses an immediate danger to others...certainly not for a first offense.

Yes, but she is a Right Wing Conservative.... not like those " other " people. So, she deserves a special dispensation.Obama must have caused her to drive in an irratic manner on Route 3 at 1 AM.

WMEX still running promos saying "...drive home with Michele McPhee". But, licensed revoked...I guess as long as you drive and she can be in passenger seat...

What a great term! "Badge Bunny". I'll have to bone up on my jive talkin' dictionary terminology. They used to just call them groupies back in my uncles' day.

Michele McPhee is back on air and says under advice of counsel she won't discuss what happened; "you know I respect the law" etc

So now that MA RMV has pulled her license as an immediate threat (usually you get a 15 day temporary license pending court) I guess I won't be seeing the girl from the mean streets of Wakefield (WHS class of '98) on her Harley ( I bet it is a Skirtster 883) up at Laconia Bike Week this weekend.

At this point her DWI is the minor issue, assuming first offense, the process is usually a "CWOF", fine, reinstatement fee, and drunk school. Not a big deal.

Where she refused the BAC test, she is 180 days suspended and 45 on top for the first offense/CWOF.

OK no big deal she hires a driver/intern to haul her around.

The big thing is the resisting arrest and assault charges (multiple counts I assume)

It is going to be a real trick to get an A.D.A. to reduce those charges or CWOF them.
I don't care who she knows, at this point she is toxic and nobody is going to stick their neck out to
call in a favor to save her backside.

Wait until she has to do pre trial probation..and some P.O. decides she has to come in 3 times a week at 3:00 PM
If you have never dealt with the Probation Department I assure you the P.O.'s get off on making your visits as hard for you as possible.

But Michele, if you are reading this, I know places where you can go with real lousy coffee that are full of people willing to help you stop drinking. All you have to do is Step 1, the rest are easy

It's very plainly NOT her first offense, assuming the Globe reported accurately that her license has been revoked. From the MassRMV site: A license is suspended for life upon a fifth conviction for DUI or upon refusing the chemical test for alcohol (which she did) and having three or more convictions for DUI. There is no eligibility for a hardship license.

She was suspended for refusing. Automatic 180 days on first offense. "Suspensions for both Breath Test Failures and Refusals start immediately on the offense date."

The Globe had her driving record and they didn't mention any prior OUI's.

She had some speeding citations.
So to get to work today, and she is back, either she got a ride or got on the Blue Line...
Mercedes SUV. Gotta make some money to do those payments.
She's said to be 45; born in '70 so I would guess she graduated high school in 88, unless she didn't graduate till she was 28 for some reason.

Yeah, she respects the law all right. That's why she kicked the State Police cop who pulled her over. Just wonder where she really kicked him.

Doesn't say how old the SUV is. She could have bought it with an advance on one of her books. Her frequent changes in jobs the last five years raise a red flag.

WMEX drive-time host Michele McPhee kicked off her radio show today vowing she’ll be vindicated a day after being charged with assaulting a state trooper and driving drunk.

“With everything my team and I know, we are confident that once the facts are out there, there will be absolutely no question about who I am,” McPhee said.

“I know a lot of you have a lot of questions and I wish I could answer them all for you but under the advice of my legal counsel I can’t discuss the situation until all the facts are out,” she added on air today at the 1510 AM station. “Everyone who knows me knows I respect the law and the process.”

McPhee said that she cried out of gratitude for the support of her coworkers and family and went on to say that WMEX will “take over Boston.”

“I am a very lucky woman,” she said at the top of her show.

If Mc Drunk were Black and not Hibernian she'd be sitting in a jail....or dead for hitting a cop.

She was on her show Friday 6/12. So does any one else smell a radio stunt ..I do..
Ratings were prob up for WMEX yesterday.. hmmm.. just looking at this from all angles.

Given that the state police—or any government agency—is involved, I donʼt think for a second that the original incident was a stunt.
That said, rather than her laying low in disgrace and the station trying to cut her loose as quick as they can, as would typically happen in this type of situation, they may very well try and play it out somehow—at least as much as the lawyers would allow/recommend—for every .001 rating they can extract.

Don't think it was a stunt either. If so, why the black eye?
Mc Drunk didn't have the good grace that John Dennis did earlier this spring when he check himself into an alcohol rehab center because of his apparent abuse of alcohol.

McDrunk looks like she is in the stage where she is blaming everyone else but herself.

Looks like McDrunk is following in the steps of Jen Brian, late of WBZ Radio.
