Looks like it wasn't FOX that got rid of Stein. It was the other way around!

What does that say about the state of FOX when their west coast morning drive guy leaves to do overnights on a competitor?

I almost guarantee you

Nobody leaves the top spot at FOX for the lowest spot at Sporting News.

Stein got canned, plain and simple.

Sporting News has a four watt signal where I live that I sometimes try to pick up and listen to as I sleep- because I like the morning show they have when this station boosts the power up.

But those days are gone now.

so you really like ferrell more than bruno? or are you talking about spiegel and lekis? like i have said before, ferrell has grown on me but c'mon. he is no bruno.......

I go back with both of them-

I don't know how many people really know this but Tony Bruno MADE ESPN Radio once upon a time.

Back in the 90s ESPN was a weekend-only proposition and Bruno was "can't miss" radio. I doubt they could have gone 24-7 without him.

But also- Ferrall was on in the middle part of the decade throughout the country in syndication. His style was new- rock in the background- lots of hockey- and it worked well.

I have a Pittsburgh bias so I'm more apt to go with Ferrall- but I will say this-

If Tony Bruno is better than Scott Ferrall- and I'm not saying he isn't (or that he is)- but if he is

Ferrall is better than Bruno with Sisliano.

Re: I almost guarantee you

I agree. There is no way in hell Clear Channel/FSR would allow an on-air personality to voluntarily bolt and then immediately hit the airwaves with a competitor. I'm sure Stein's FSR contract had an iron-clad non-compete agreement of several months' duration, which CC/FSR would have enforced if he were trying to walk away and "better deal" Asswood and his cronies.

Doubt it

I don't know much about how radio contracts work, but I'd be shocked if Sporting News was able to negotiate a contract with Stein in 3 business days since he left Fox, especially over a holiday. Heck, SNR is so inept that it took them months to try and do a deal with Kiley & Booms and they never got it done. This sounds very much to me like Stein quit Fox to go work for SNR.

If Stein did-

Leave the top show at FOX for the worst time slot at TSN, then I rest my case at how clueless "Winner, Winner! Chicken Dinner!" was.

I think what you're saying is...

...something along the lines of 'subtraction by addition', as far as the effect that young 'drew Siciliano has when added to Bruno. And I agree. TOTALLY

What makes you think he had a contract w/ Premiere? VEW is still getting paid, so is Krystal F. I wouldn't be shocked if he was working week to week or month to month, without a contract.
If he was working without a contract and was being paid on a per show or per week basis there would be no non-compete. He also would be inclined to jump to a job with a contract and the guaranteed money.
I also think that FSR is dying a faster death than SNR, and Sporting News as a whole is on the block, leaving a greater growth potential with them than with Premiere.

Re: I almost guarantee you

Good points. It was an assumption on my part that the personality with top billing on a network's morning drivetime show would be signed up long-term. I obviously forgot that Asswood was the Captain of that FSR Ship of Fools.
