Stephen A. Smith

Anyone notice that former ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith has resurfaced on, of all networks, MSNBC?

I was watching MSNBC coverage of the Michael Jackson memorial when I heard "Screamin' A" start talking to Dylan Ratigan on a panel during the new daily show "Morning Meeting." I also saw Stephen appear on "Meeting" on the few times since then that I have sampled it, so he must be a regular guest on that show.

And yesterday, he was just on Ed Schultz's show talking about the reinstatement of Michael Vick - then handled himself well in debating a PETA spokesman later in the segment. It's either on MSNBC's website or on Youtube if you can't find it there.

Anyone else think Stephen is OK holding his own on MSNBC?

Yup... Bristol didn't renew his contract... I guess he has to make ends meet somehow... I believe he also left the Philadelphia Inquirer around the same time... I also think he's really serious about honing and refining his skills as a talk show host/pundit - last week, he was also guest-hosting a couple of hours on WABC - yep, the big 50,000 watt radio station in New York. I do wish him well, but if he gets another regular program, here's hoping it has better returns than "Quite Frankly" on ESPN2...

I haven't seen him on MSNBC yet, but Smith has said on several occasions (on The 2 Live Stews, his blog, Facebook) that he wanted to branch out from sports commentary. He's also done a few guest hosting stints on The Steve Harvey Morning Show, so he's kept himself seen and heard.

I like 'Screamin A', his arguments with Skip Bayless made ESPN First Take worth watching.

ESPN needs to part company with that arrorgant SOB, Ric Bucher. UUGHHH! Whenever I see his squirmy face on my screen, it's an immediate click of the remote. Cannot stand his whiny voice and his, I am mightier than all personality. When he is on the actual panel, and not in some remote studio,it seems the others give him a cold shoulder and rightfully so.
