Stephen Capen

Hank Rosenfeld just sent along word that Stephen Capen lost his battle with lung cancer last night, with his wife and children at his side. Stephen did mornings at KSAN and KFOG, and also worked at KFRC, KSFX/KGO, KMEL, KRQR, KDBK (Double 99), KTID (San Rafael), KUSF and KVON/KVYN (Napa) locally.

He had moved back to Scituate, Mass., recently, and plans are to scatter his ashes off Scituate Harbor.

Thanks... I'm from NYC (moved to SF in '91) and I hazily remember his stint there on WXRK (K-Rock). Had no idea what a storied career he had.

RIP Stephen...a true radio talent and a nice guy...

He was great to me - a punk kid - when I called him at KSFX...
Timeless radio memories for me...Funny guy...Damn.

Re: Stephen Capen/KGB-KPRI

Steve Capen was brilliant, acerbic wit and an old
school humorist. He did mornings at KPRI FM in
the progressive days and also spent time at KGB-FM.
I remember him best in S.F. for his hilarious pranks.
RIP.

The Chronicle mentioned him in today's obituaries. (9-19-2005).
