Stepping on the music!!

How the hell do you not hit the post when it gets counted down to you? Pathetic. I listened to the radio last week for fun. Cause Im kinda bored and might wanna do some weekends. Listen to some competition. Pathetic. If you cant hit your post, and you have a counter, you are retarded. Try to practice alittle more. Pathetic.

Then, I heard the chick do it again on the VERY NEXT SONG. Its so easy. This was on 98.3. AND she was a fulltimer. Awesome.

Watch out America.

I believe what you heard is a little something they call VOICE TRACKING.

No, with voice tracking it is impossible to step on vocals because the jock can move the music to hit post

Easier said than done with som automation systems. With MasterControl it's fairly easy, but with other systems laziness makes it pretty easy to screw up.

Obviously. Because NOBODY ever stepped on a vocal when they were live......

Exactly! Just like Supersnake, Pistol Pete, Alex Santa Maria, JX3, Fashen (with his sweepers)...they always hit post. NOT!

i like kfog's policy to not talk over any song.

in regards to hitting the post..

i think it's hilarious when kdkb waits 24 seconds to hit the post at 27 with a 3 second kdkb drop.

I prefer the old-school AOR approach of letting the music and the station breathe instead of some boss jock nonsense yammering all over the beginnings and ends of songs, but if you've got a 29 second ramp and you eat up 28 seconds talking up it, you're a jerk and I've already punched over to something else. Fines are doubled if you're walking up classic rock, or really, any kind of alternative, and by alternative I don't mean My Chemical Romance. What happened to DJs who were cool simply by virtue of their presence and charisma, instead of some knucklehead monkeying around without a point atop a Killers ramp?

I can tell when it is live or recorded. When live and the words kick in the dj gets thrown off usually. Knowing they are slipping up. If its recorded it sounds like the dj isnt wearing headphones. I said it.

OUTCH! It happens either way, lazzyness, inexperience or not knowing your music or job criteria :)

Not preparing prior to going on air. Aka lazi-mu-bligah. Not knowing the music is key to many errors. Working for commercial radio you get familiar with your stations playlist though, Right?
