does anyone know the history of wnci back when it was known as stereo 98? was stereo 98 a top-40 radio station back in the late 1960s though the '70s. any promos and jingles from that era?
It'd be great to see an old WNCI aircheck pop-up on reelradio or Airchexx.com. Someone did a complete history on the Columbus board some time ago, you might post this question there. I can remember them from about 1974.
Nationwide Communications..division of the insurance company of the same name owned it in the late 1960s and 70s...Loved the "love dove/taoism" styled psychidelic logo used at that time.(used to have a T-shirt I got at the Ohio State Fair with the logo pasted on the back.) Sean McKay did afternoons after he left WTUE,Dayton...they never blew away WCOL-AM until the late 70s when FM finally caught on and Great Trails wised up and started up 92-X FM(WXGT) with O'Malley and Chad in the mornings and "stereo-quad" Susie Waud in the evenings. WCOL(now an FM playing country) and WNCI are now both owned by the CC barons.
