Stereo Gatesway 80 speaker output question

How can I workaround the speakers high Z output of my console? Mine has the cue speaker removed because it was always blowing I was told. From memory the speakers output Z is around 40 ohms. A speaker matching transformer I read on the manual can convert it. Is there a simpliest way?

Another Question: what lamps are used on the huge modutec VU Meters?

And a last one: What was the price of a Harris Gatesway Stereo 80 on their days?

1. Simplest solution is as you suggest to use a matching transformer to go from 40 to 8 ohms. Should be easily found from your favorite parts supplier--still common item in PA systems. Don't need a very hefty one--cue circuit probably only runs a watt or two.

2. The meter bulbs were most likely 24~28 volt bayonet based bulbs, maybe type 1819 (?)--going from memory. Check Mouser catalog (www.mouser.com) and see what looks like will fit.
