Stereo Tool Demo Video

Well, I finally made a video of what ST version 7.31 does with a Marian Trace Alpha sound card while playing the notoriously overshoot prone song Black And White by Three Dog Night. Worth noting that the audio source is a 128K .mp3 played using Winamp through the on board computer sound card into a 25 year old analog audio console. Living proof that with Stereo Tool, what comes out CAN sound better than what goes in! The Demod metering on this monitor only shows in 1db steps so all I can say for certain is that the demodulated audio is regularly exceeding 133%.

@Bob: I don't know if it's a shortcoming with YouTube or what, but the audio sounds quite distorted to me on several different computers using small Bose computer speakers to a unit connected with via Altec monitors.

And i heard mouse double-click at start. :)
I think more point was meters not sound.
Indeed, the meters/lack of overshoot were the primary purpose of the video. YouTube isn't an ideal medium for audio, but it sounds plenty good enough for verifying that the meter movement and music were one and the same.

Thanks for the clarification. I personally haven't had all that great of luck with ST but I may have to revisit it down the line. I had one station using Breakaway and it ended up getting replaced by an Omnia One.

I find the user interface in Stereo Tool a big turn off for me. It doesn't follow the usual conventions of an audio processor. The GUI needs to be tweaked, controls renamed to what they usually are anywhere else and then I'd start using it more. I don't have time in my line of work to learn every new piece of software from scratch. I want to be able to go in and start using it right away, not saying "what the hell does this slider do?!"

Most users find the audio in ST is a big turn ON for them. I know of a large market station using it, another station in the market has an 11, engs love the sound of both. May want to download the latest beta, got some new goodies in it. Keep it rockin!!!
