Sterling on Sunday...

I was twisting the dial in bed and stumbled on his show again. After talking nonsense about the fires out west, he started lamenting the fact that the morning show had a promo for the station and that it was live from 5 am to 7 pm. He said “ I’m live too” and goes on to rip Mark Levin , calling him ‘ Mark Has Been “ , not once , but twice , ridiculing his program and mimicking his voice . I will stay away from that frequency after 9. I hope he reads this.

This is what you get when you remove politics from talk radio. A boomer talking about himself.
I would rather listen to any host talking about almost anything except "THE DEMS ARE EVIL! ONLY WE -- WHO DIDN"T EVEN GO TO COLLEGE AND FLUNKED HIGH SCHOOL - ARE RIGHT!!"

That's easy to do.
Levin's blind support of a pathetic ex-president, constantly harassing anyone who doesn't support him.
His nasally voice.
His getting all hot under the collar and SCREAMING about how any Repub. who dare speaks out against the Orange Moron "isn't a real Repub."

It's important to consider that Soros Fund Management has acquired a sizeable chunk of Audacy's debt, roughly $414 million in total.

That could explain why WPHT carries CBS News, Gary R'Nell (a real lib) and Sabo. It's an attempt to appear "Fair and Balanced."

Canceling Levin would be a step in the right direction, IMO. The local conservative talk is fine.

What does that have to do with anything? Money isn't red or blue. It's green.

The deal hasn't been accepted yet, and the fund has no authority over the company, nor does it have any people on its board.

The station was once OWNED by CBS. Bill Paley himself is from Philadelphia. It was one of the first affiliates of the CBS network.

If conservative politicians have anything to say, it won't be accepted. They have told the FCC to slow down the process.

They are the reason why a very simple bankruptcy plan hasn't been approved yet.

But this ignores my comment about money not being red or blue. You apparently disagree.

And I just can't see how Mr Soros, at his age, spends any time listening to different stations and talk shows and giving instructions about what to talk about.

In fact, today's WCAU was the station the Paley family bought as an extension of their tobacco business!

Sorry, I don't get your point.

Idilogy seems to trump the bottom line ... for example, CNN, WABC Radio and others appear to care more about promoting an agenda than maximizing ratings and therefore revenue. CNN though may be changing.

The key word is "appear." The media is all about creating an appearance. But if there was no money, there'd be no agenda.

But sure, for WABC, it's all one man, and he doesn't care about money. Not so for companies that depend on stockholders. Certainly Audacy's current CEO doesn't share the politics of WPHT. He has kept politics out of KYW and the other all-news stations. The other Audacy talk stations are a lot more conservative than WPHT. Listen to WBEN in Buffalo. No CBS news there. Philadelphia is a lot more liberal than Buffalo.

CBS toh news has been on WCAU/WPHT for most if not all of at least the last 50 years. They have have temporarily dropped it when they made brief format changes to oldies and sports talk, but as long as they’ve been talk, service oriented or somewhat left leaning in the 1970s or right leaning today, TOH CBS News has been one if the few consistencies.
