Stern(about "Jack")

All Access is reporting on its Net News today(October 24th) that Howard Stern told his listeners on his morning show that "Two or three" stations which carries his program will flip to Variety Hits this week(most likely this Tuesday, October 25th). He also added that another one might go Talk as well.

Hmmm, could he be 'Sirius'...er Serious about this rumor?

Does this mean Albany New York will finally get Jack-FM? There's a station in this market that carries Howard Stern and is looking to flip formats because of his departure from Infinity Radio. I really hope Howard is Serious and it's us that could finally get Jack-FM!!! Please let this be true. This radio market needs one!!!

I wouldn't be excited about it yet. This could be another one of Stern's disses towards Inifinity because they wouldn't let him promote Sirius on the CBS TV network and its O&Os.

Someone get the firehose for this one. Calm down, dude.

OMG, man- the anti-Jack contingent will absolutely blow an artery when they see THIS. Get ready- "Jack" will get blamed for hiding the WMDs for Saddam.

:)

According to FMQB.com, Stern is said to have claimed this morning (October 24th) that a couple of his affiliates would flip to "Jack" tomorrow at 8 A.M. EDT, about halfway through Stern's show.

On the other hand, we might see a couple of more stations that are "Jack" 20 hours a day weekdays/24 hours a day weekends but will still carry Stern weekday mornings until his Infinity show ends. WBUF-92.9 Buffalo already does this: they broadcast Stern from 6 to 10 A.M. on weekday mornings, but broadcast the "Jack FM" format the rest of the time, and will expand "Jack" into morning drive once Stern leaves Infinity.

Great observation- in fact, I've been surprised they've not followed the Buffalo (and I think Fresno) model with Stern in the AM 'til he's gone and Jack the rest of the day, to beat others to the punch.

I'm not gonna calm down because what's right is right and this is dead wrong!!! What is it with the people who make the decisions in Albany New York's radio market for Jack-FM? They see that people in this market actually wants a Jack-FM and actually needs one too since theres a gap for one and they keep on bypassing this market. I noticed another thing the radio markets that don't need or want one get Jack regardless like New York City for example, Chicago etc and meanwhile they say the hell with Albany New York, they want it but we don't care they ain't getting one which is complete nonsense. you cannot tell me I am wrong either about this because, there's more people than me who notice this in this area that are not members of this message board. Just cut out all this petty stuff and bring A Sparknet Jack-FM here already with Howard Cogan as the voice and the same music and everything like it is in New York City & Chicago & Los Angeles etc and then I will gladly calm down, until then, I will not stop writing about it and it's my right and privialege to do that.

"...I will not stop writing about it and it's my right and privialege to do that."

Yes, I suppose it is your "privialege" to do that.

Look, I'd love for JACK to come to Albany...IMHO, it is a truly bad radio market and could use some shaking up. Hell, I'd be able to listen to it when I visit my mother upstate.

However, JACK doesn't come uninvited. Some radio station with a decent signal and money in the bank needs to call first. Either to Sparknet Communications or to ABC Radio Networks to start the paperwork rolling.

In Buffalo, did they have Cogan liners saying something like "Howard in the morning, Jack the rest of the day?"--or do they have any sweepers referring to Stern at all?
